Raffles Udaipur is set on its own private island, lapped by the gentle waters of Udai Sagar Lake and surrounded by the verdant Aravalli Hills. The epitome of opulent style, our spacious rooms and suites are a soothing blend of Indian and European influences with panoramic views of the Baroque garden and the lake. Raffles Udaipur was designed to evoke the look and feel of a grand country estate. The structure of the principal building is inspired by classical European Palladian architecture, featuring domes and high ceilings, and surrounded by beautiful Baroque gardens. Subtle influences from Rajput-Mughal architecture can also be seen in the decorative chhatris and stucco work across the hotel. Local Mewari elements such as jali panels and the iconic Tikri artwork further showcase this stunning blend of two distinct geographies.

Raffles Udaipur is undoubtedly an impressive luxury property with a beautiful setting, excellent rooms and a wide range of luxury amenities. The island concept, 24x7 boat transfer and overall ambience make the property quite unique. However, after experiencing the stay, I felt that the property is somewhat overhyped compared to the expectations created by its brand positioning and pricing. The non-island/lakeshore rooms are, in my opinion, a better choice. They are newer, more technologically advanced and offer better privacy. These rooms were introduced in August 2025, while the island rooms feel comparatively older. The lakeshore rooftop pool is also worth experiencing, particularly because of its views. For breakfast, I would actually prefer the lakeshore restaurant over the island. It is less crowded and the breakfast spread is almost similar. The island does have slightly more variety, but items from the island breakfast selection can be arranged at the lakeshore on request. Dinner was a weaker part of the experience. The vegetarian options in the island buffet were quite limited, and I did not feel the buffet offered sufficient value for the price being charged. I would personally recommend choosing à la carte instead. Pre-arrival communication also needs improvement. We were informed during booking reconfirmation that a butler would contact us before check-in, but we did not receive any such communication. For a property operating at this luxury level, proactive guest communication should be much stronger. For anyone planning a stay, one practical point is to search “Resort Raffles Boat Jetty” for the arrival point and confirm the exact location with the hotel beforehand. Overall, the property is beautiful, luxurious and has some genuinely impressive features. The rooms, setting and island experience are its strongest aspects. However, when considering the pricing and the level of service expected from a luxury property of this category, the overall experience did not feel exceptional enough to justify the hype. Beautiful property, but in my opinion, somewhat overhyped.

Beautiful loaction and great hospitality. Our lunch host Miss Dinky & Mr. Surak was fabulous. Food was super awesome. This resort is the best example of architect, courtsey, and hospitality. Staff was on top notch. We will back again sometime. 😊
