Taj Lake Palace

Another wonderful experience at the Taj Lake Palace. The stay, the food, and the entire arrangement were exceptional, as always. A special shoutout to Harsh, who even cancelled his leave just to be there for us. His dedication truly made our stay seamless. Also, a big thank you to Himadri and Tanuja. Their warm, attentive service elevated the whole experience. The rest of the staff were amazing too, but these three genuinely made this visit even more special. Lastly, thanks to Rahul Mehta for always making sure we always have someone to help is out. Grateful for the hospitality and looking forward to coming back soon.

My wife and I spent two nights at the Taj Lake Palace. It is a very special, luxurious hotel, and its location on an island in Lake Pichola enhances its charm. The hotel itself is a lovely building, and the staff were marvelous. After being greeted by a rose-petal shower, we were given a tour of the hotel by Gaurav, who got us situated. Several times during our stay, Gaurav touched base with us while we were walking about to make sure that we had everything we needed; his hospitality was outstanding. The food was also outstanding. Breakfast at Jarokha was varied and very good, as was the dinner we had there. Tanuja was exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. We also had dinner at Bhairo, which was very special. As it is on an outside terrace, it is dependent on the weather, but we were there on a lovely evening, overlooking the lit-up City Palace. The menu was a fixed-price, European menu, and the meal was delicious. It was a very special evening. When we checked in, Gaurav asked me why I was carrying a small bouquet of flowers. I said that I had been given them because it was my birthday. Unbeknownst to me, while my attention was diverted, Gaurav told my wife that they should do something special for me. My wife said that would be nice but that I had already been given a cake earlier that day, so perhaps it should wait until the next night so it would be a surprise. Sure enough, the next evening, a beautiful chocolate cake was delivered to our room. In sum, although it was a splurge, I’m very glad that we stayed at the Lake Palace Hotel, and would be delighted to return.

We were not staying at the Taj and only having dinner, but the staff here had us feeling like complete VIPs on the boat back to our hotel. We arrived in property to a wonderful property tour by Sneha, and afterwards seated at Jharokha. We simply asked to be seated at the corner table and proceeded to have one of the best meals of our lives. Yuvraj gave us excellent insight on cocktails (Indian flight, Octopussy and 007 were highlights), and Anop’s dishes recommended by Nirijala were excellent - we particularly loved the chili paneer, fish exotica, and apple cobbler with ice cream out of the 10 dishes we ordered. We just stayed for a (long) dinner, but the staff made it feel like a 2 night stay.
