Reviews for Sacred House

A very photogenic boutique hotel in center of charming Urgup - Cappadocia

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Friends highly recommended Sacred House and it did not disappoint! It is a gorgeous property with very beautiful, unique rooms. We agree with other reviewers that it is a magical place! We stayed 3 nights and the staff were super friendly and helpful. When we checked in, Jon (or maybe Sean?) kindly asked us if we had booked any excursions. Upon learning we had not yet booked a hot air balloon ride, he informed us that last minute rush deals were available for the following morning since balloon companies often discount any available unfilled capacity. It was our lucky day! Despite having a 4am pickup, it was an amazing life experience to be among so many colorful balloons flying across Cappadocia's breathtaking landscape! The town of Urgup is a not as big or touristy as Goreme, but we loved staying in this quieter town. There were plenty of great nearby restaurants like Mel's & TikTok Kadin Emegi both less than a 5 minute walk from Sacred House. Regarding rooms, since we requested air conditioning, my husband and I were in Oracle but our (adult) daughters who preferred a balcony over A/C, were placed in nearby Haram. While both rooms were spacious and exquisite, the chairs and couch were not so comfortable, and so we loved that there was a shaded outdoor area between the rooms with comfy seating where we could read and do work. The breakfast was very delicious but almost too generous as we hated wasting what we could not finish. Thank you all at Sacred House for an amazing visit, we cannot wait to return!

This hotel is racist.

This restaurant is extremely unfriendly and exhibits severe racial discrimination. When we went to the restaurant for breakfast, the waitstaff at other tables were proactively offered napkins and breads, but our table was not. Later, when we ordered, we all ordered the same fried eggs, but the ones at other tables came with cheese, while ours did not. I asked the staff why we were being treated differently. They called the manager, who arrogantly replied that it was because we hadn’t notified them that we were coming for breakfast. I’ve traveled to so many countries and stayed at so many hotels, and I’ve never heard of guests should notify the restaurant in advance to eat breakfast at a hotel.

Sacred House: a life changing experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

This was our first time in Cappadocia, and of course we had heard many wonderful things about this magical place of carved rocks and hot air balloons. But we never imagined that our adventure in the city would begin at our hotel. Sacred House is one of the most beautiful, unique, and magical places we have ever experienced. From the façade and patio to the grand central staircase, library, superb swimming pool, bar, and restaurant, every corner is filled with extraordinary details—sculptures, stonework, planters, wrought iron, windows, and countless artistic touches. Our suite, Archangel, featured an incredible one-piece white marble hot tub and sink. Downstairs there is a hammam bath, dressing rooms, and a stunning black-covered swimming pool that transported us to the magnificent palaces of ancient Persian, Turkish, and Greek civilizations. The pool was perfect both for swimming laps and for relaxing. Another unforgettable surprise was the breakfast, unlike anything we had ever seen before. The table overflowed with cheeses, fig and walnut jam, olives, fresh fruit, bread, raspberry yogurt, and many other delicious specialties. Having a drink at the eclectic and elegant bar is an absolute must—the lounge music and cocktails were exceptional. But the true heart of Sacred House is the team that runs it. Led by the hotel manager, Mrs. Funda Seval, everyone was extraordinarily kind and helpful, organizing all our tours, excursions, and even the hot air balloon experience with great care and attention. Sacred House was a life-changing experience and an absolute must when visiting Cappadocia, Türkiye.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The service was excellent, the swimming pool was great, and the staff were very professional and welcoming. A special mention goes to a Pakistani boy named Gondal, who was exceptionally well-mannered and provided outstanding service throughout our stay. Highly recommended!
