I was charged for 1 night after canceling reservation. I was told by the front desk agent on the telephone that there would be no charge. They did not honor this and I was charged. I disputed with my credit card but lost the dispute as I couldn't verify what I was told on the telephone. Beware!

First, let me say, we love The Hythe. We have stayed here many times (and in the before times when it was the Vail Marriott). It is with puzzlement, therefore, that I report on Room 689, into which I have checked in tonight. This is a “1BR Residence.” It appears to be individually owned, as there are two locked owners closets. There can be no explanation for this room. The bedroom… has no windows. In many places, that isn’t even legal. The entire unit has no drawers for clothing. None. And there are *no* hooks. This is a sky property! The bathroom is not like other Hythe bathrooms. It is far from the bedroom. It is long and narrow. It is a combined shower/tub. There is a three inch step up from bedroom to hallway ripe for toe-stubbing. It is hard to believe there is a living architect who would sanction this design. The owners of 689 should be embarrassed, but, whatever—it’s theirs. The Hythe, however, should not be marketing this unit to guests. A manager should look at this room.

We had an awesome family stay in early summer. The hotel is beautiful and everyone we encountered was so nice and helpful. It was quiet in Vail when we were there, and it was lovely. Not all the shops were open in town, and the main restaurant was closed at the hotel. Neither of that was an issue, just sharing. The pool, hot tub, s’mores each night and complimentary shuttle were all great touches. They also have an “Adventure Locker” where you can check out games, hiking equipment, cameras and nice rain jackets if it rains. Our kids loved this! Breakfast in the cafe was great each morning. The only thing that was a bit odd was that the bar closed at 8:00 pm even when the bar was full. It would be nice if they had the flexibility to stay open a bit longer when busy. The bartenders were very accommodating and did let everyone know in advance of the closing.

I recently celebrated a milestone birthday at the Hythe with a large group of family and friends. We had an outstanding experience. It’s a gorgeous hotel - from the lobby, to the rooms to the bar area - all spacious and well-designed. But the best part was the service provided by the hotel staff, who went above and beyond to make us feel special every day. Meg helped us plan the entire 4-day event and provided many extras, like a champagne toast, a gift basket for my room, etc. Christian at the bar was SO friendly and worked magic for our large group. The concierge, Charlie, sent gifts to my brother’s room when he realized they came from the same town. Even the valet went above and beyond, helping us find a perfect hiking spot. I can’t wait to go back.

This is a lovely hotel. Unfortunately I had an important video call that I needed to take during my trip, and I found out mid-stay that there was no place for me to take it. I had to ask my spouse stay with the kids in their room, which was unfortunate. Otherwise, we had a nice stay.
