Sonnenalp Hotel

This hotel is at a level far above other hotels in Vail….the European touch that the owner’s bring with the decor, the staff, the cuisine….it just has no match.

We have been coming to the Sonnenalp Hotel for years. We love the wonderful service, fantastic food, great rooms, and the special touches that come with a family owned hotel

The Hotel Sonnenalp provided an absolutely flawless resort experience for my ski trip. It absolutely deserves its reputation as the best hotel in Vail... I'd say it is comparable to a Ritz Carlton or a Four Seasons in terms of level of service and thoughtfulness. A number of things to mention: 1) The location is tucked away a bit from the bustle of Bridge Street, with its own frontage onto Gore Creek. 2) They have a ski valet service right at the Gondola, so that you just have to walk in your regular shoes to the gondola and pick up your ski equipment each day. This system worked flawlessly. 3) The overall level of staff friendliness and helpfulness was remarkable. The property is obviously well managed and the staff are working hard to create an atmosphere of idyllic retreat; 4) The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable, quiet, sunny, and had everything I needed. 5) There are multiple restaurants right on the hotel property and the breakfast buffet is probably one of the top 3 that I have seen in my life; 6) There is a really nice common area with a cozy bar and a library and live music pretty much every night. People actually congregate and socialize in the lobby because the atmosphere is so nice. I will have a hard time staying anywhere else on my next visit to Vail.

The Sonnenalp is hands down the best hotel in Vail and perhaps all of America. It is our home from home and never ceases to maintain its high standards and extremely friendly and personal ambience.

I have been coming to the Sonnenalp for over 35 years - as a child, as a parent with my children, by myself and also with friends. In absolutely every instance, my stay was warm, met with great professionalism and just plain fabulous. This place encompasses all of the charm, ambiance and effort of an old world European, Austrian hotel, and I highly recommend!
