When it debuted at the height of the Roaring Twenties, Rosewood Hotel Georgia established itself as the Canadian destination for entertainment royalty. Marlene Dietrich showed up with 40 of her suitcases, John Wayne sauntered over the threshold, and Bing Crosby topped a never-ending list of headline entertainers. British Columbia’s top radio station, CKWX, broadcasted from the penthouse for more than a decade. Today, after a 2011 renovation, old-world touches still glimmer in a thoroughly modern hotel, a revival of the Golden Age of Travel. There’s a funky, mosaic-tiled indoor pool and a gourmet room service menu that serves late into the night (you can thank Audrey Hepburn’s list of demands for that one).

After witnessing the grand opening of Rosewood Amsterdam, I was impressed and eager to experience a stay at a Rosewood property myself. Upon finding an attractive rate on Booking, I decided to prepay and confirm my reservation. In retrospect, I should have booked directly with the hotel, as I believe the experience might have been handled with more personal attention. Check-in upon arrival was smooth and efficient. The room was sleek and modern, featuring a great shower, a small window, was located on a lower (third) floor, and had no bathtub. At night, some noise from neighboring cafés could be heard. While the room itself was solid, there were no personal touches such as a welcome note, letter, or chocolates—details that usually distinguish luxury hotels of this caliber. The following morning, the light controls stopped working, and the television malfunctioned after attempting to use Chromecast. Breakfast at 1927 was of high quality, but the menu lacked flexibility for individual guests—for example, there was no option to order both pancakes and eggs together. Another disappointment was the absence of barista-made coffee, especially considering the prices charged (USD 9 for a cappuccino). Despite not being particularly busy, the staff felt somewhat disengaged and unnatural in their interactions. Later that day, I returned to find that the air conditioning had stopped working, and the room temperature had risen to 24°C (75°F). The technician who came was polite and worked on the issue for about an hour before assuring me it was fixed. My comment about the lack of air flow was dismissed, and when I returned from a short break around 10:15 p.m., the room was still uncomfortably warm. I called the front desk, and they offered to move me to another room on the fifth floor (Room 503). Unfortunately, the new room was approximately six square meters smaller, leaving little to no space for luggage or movement around the bed. Although the receptionist was apologetic and offered to waive one breakfast charge, the situation was unacceptable for a hotel of this standard. I deeply regretted not booking directly, as the hotel seemed largely indifferent to my experience. Had it not been so late in the evening, I would have checked out immediately. Upon checkout, no one mentioned the inconvenience or followed up on the reported issues, which I found disappointing. Ultimately, I recognize my mistake in booking through a third-party site and expecting this property to match the level of service found at hotels such as The Raffles or the Mandarin Oriental. Unfortunately, Rosewood did not meet that standard during my stay.

Rooms, location and staff were all great. Unexpected closure of the pool/sauna and delays getting ice and a few other things were a little disappointing given that we have stayed at Rosewoods all over the world. Wish we could have gotten some credit or access to another spa given that this was not disclosed in advance.

This stunning hotel truly exceeded our expectations, showcasing exceptional attention to detail. The front desk staff greeted us with warmth and friendliness, making us feel at home. Our room and bathroom were immaculate and beautifully designed, creating a luxurious and inviting atmosphere. Even at checkout, the staff was terrific. They sincerely thanked us for staying with them and gave us bottled water for the road. I highly recommend this beautiful hotel; it is also perfectly located.

1. we enjoyed the beautiful room with newly furnished design. Very luxury details in the room. 2. caring room and cleaning service and good gym and pool possibility 3. Good location and close to bus stops, Vancouver Art Gallery and Vancouver City center 4. Noise from cafe outside (room 718). Noise from people talking outside as the room door is not sealed correctly. 5. The hotel does not offer any breakfast buffet and the breakfast at the restaurant is expensive.

Unforgettable stay. The staff was simply incredible . Hotel itself, lobby, rooms; impecable. Didn't go to the restaurants on site, but room service was fast and good options from the menu
