Beautiful hotel with bad street noise

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

It’s a very well appointed hotel located in a great location. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I would’ve given them a five star review except the street noise is horrible. We were kept up both nights as the hotel is located next to several bars and nightclub. On our last night, we had to call the front desk at 4:30 AM. (Bars close at 3am.) At checkout, the front desk was sympathetic, but offered no compensation or promised for action simply saying that there was nothing they could do and that the problem was consistent. In my opinion, they should work more effectively with local law-enforcement to make sure that people don’t loiter on the streets even after the bars close making noise. They could have a security guard keep the streets around the hotel cleared. They definitely need better soundproofing in the rooms. It is unfortunate since it’s a really nice hotel but being exhausted from lack of sleep undermines a fundamental deliverable of any hotel.

Highly recommend the OPUS!!

Absolutely loved our stay at the OPUS hotel! My partner and I were travelling to Vancouver for vacation and had a 10/10 experience. The main things that stood out to us were the cleanliness of the rooms, the walkability, the service, and the staff. Everyone at the hotel was super friendly and eager to help. My personal favourite part was the aroma in the lobby!! The main thing I was concerned about before booking our trip was the safety of the neighbourhood we stay in, and Yaletown was fantastic, even at night. Restaurants, patios, bars, and the water are just steps away. The city is super walkable, bikes & scooters are available, Kitsilano is a short uber ride away. At the end of the trip we agreed that we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else next time - thank you for the great experience!

Great family trip!

Excellent staff, incredibly welcoming and sweet to our kids. They even had a little treasure chest that they were allowed to pick some little keychains from. They gave us welcome drinks which was such a nice touch. We enjoyed ending the night in their little lounge with a glass of wine and had great breakfast at the restaurant. Super close to the train for airport transfers, a 30 second walk from the Yaletown stop.

My favorite place to stay. Customer service is above and beyond, amazing people behind that desk willing to help and provide advice on all city things! Top notch location, and just all around great vibes. Will continue to come back, can’t wait for the next one!

Good stay with friendly staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Really nice stay - comfortable room and friendly staff. Loved the Valet parking and being able to leave the car while we explored the city. Just a couple of niggles - we asked for ice when we arrived which never appeared and although the glass of wine on arrival was nice it would be nice to have complimentary bottled water in the room.

It is so rare to find an independent hotel anymore, or a true boutique property. Opus is both and a great place to stay in Vancouver. Because it is not part of a huge conglomerate, the staff is extremely personable and you get a real boutique vibe - with intimate spaces, quirky design, and staff that remembers your name. Here are my notes:
• trendy, upscale Yaletown neighborhood - walkable to the best restaurants, music venues, and sports arenas.
• public transportation (including subway to airport) at doorstep
• very good value
• Signature Amenities include transfer to cruise port
• modern aesthetic, but rooms need just a tiny bit of an update
• breakfast menu is a bit sparse but tasty with excellent service

My husband and I selected a weekend in Vancouver at the Opus Hotel. With the hotel's Mercedes available to take us about the city, it was a total delight. The suite was well appointed, quiet and relaxing. The hotel restaurant provided delightful French bistro food, the bar in the lobby was eclectic and the staff was always available to assist and be helpful. We plan to return to Vancouver next summer and stay at the Opus again.
