When it debuted at the height of the Roaring Twenties, Rosewood Hotel Georgia established itself as the Canadian destination for entertainment royalty. Marlene Dietrich showed up with 40 of her suitcases, John Wayne sauntered over the threshold, and Bing Crosby topped a never-ending list of headline entertainers. British Columbia’s top radio station, CKWX, broadcasted from the penthouse for more than a decade. Today, after a 2011 renovation, old-world touches still glimmer in a thoroughly modern hotel, a revival of the Golden Age of Travel. There’s a funky, mosaic-tiled indoor pool and a gourmet room service menu that serves late into the night (you can thank Audrey Hepburn’s list of demands for that one).

Absolutely loved my experience! The hotel is charming with all the amenities. The lounge and restaurants were delish. Wish the pool and spa were open. Alas… top notch service by the entire team!

The hotel has old world charm in buckets loads and also has a bar, restaurant, courtyard restaurant, etc. Our room was 609 and it was massive . It had 2 large beds; a good size lounge area; big bathroom and had lovely decor . The staff were incredibly helpful and kind . There is also a brilliant gym and indoor pool . It’s well located to all sights and shopping . Our first room looked directly in to the courtyard restaurant and so had absolutely no privacy . The hotel was happy to rectify this . Room 501. The cupboard space is inadequate for 2 people . And half the hanging space would have been for a child as it had draws underneath it .

When I first entered my room at Rosewood Hotel Georgia, my initial reaction was a “Wow!” feeling I’ve never previously experienced entering a room I had booked. (I have stayed at several luxury hotels over the years.) Tasteful furnishings that looked exactly like the photo on the website — and nothing like standard hotel stock. A stunning city view. A luxurious bathroom with a huge bathtub. I spent my first 15 minutes in the room examining the various features. Yes, the room cost a lot of money. But the money was well spent. Accommodations were quite comfortable — seating worked well for both lounging and tasks. The bed and bedding was first-rate. Although we never used the impressive bathtub, the shower was marvelous — as were the thick towels. The service was the best I’ve experienced at an urban hotel. Employees were courteous and responsive, and actually seemed to enjoy their jobs. Obtaining a car from valet parking at a hotel is often a hassle, involving long waits. Here ist was a pleasure; we retrieved our car promptly at various times during the day. Our rate came with a food and beverage credit, so we had cocktails and breakfast at the hotel. The upstairs terrace bar, which showed ingenuity in utilizing what was essentially an air shaft, had excellent cocktails and service. Its decor and ambience were a good deal more contemporary than that of the lobby bar — as we passed thought the lobby at night, we were not impressed with the characteristically cheesy live entertainment offered there. Our breakfast food was well-prepared and a cut above the typical hotel fare. Of course, there was room for improvement. Housekeeping services could have been better timed. One night turndown service was earlier than it should have been (just after 6 pm). The one full day we were there, maid service was later than it should have been (around 4 pm). Notwithstanding that we had a fairly large room, storage space was tight. Hot water took its time coming from the bathroom sink in the morning. And it was odd that the room had stationery but no pen. The hotel wasn’t perfect, but it was an excellent self-indulgent splurge. Overall rating 4.85/5.

Rosewood Georgia Hotel is a top class hotel in Downtown Vancouver. Really top class with nice bars and restaurants. Rooms great and beds comfortable. Recommended.

After originally being “upgraded to a beautiful room we were very disappointed in the noise levels - the room looked directly over outdoor cimema with large speakers. So uncomfortable we had to move rooms and only room available(?) which was smaller than the room we originally booked and still noisy but less so. Altogether we felt our concerns were only vaguely acknowledged. Wish they had given us the room we had booked in the first place. They should have been upfront about the noise when we booked months ago. We would have booked elsewhere.
