About the Hotel

Bringing the flavor of traditional Europe to one of North America's most beautiful cities, The Sutton Place Hotel Vancouver, in British Columbia's elegant main metropolis, has perfected the fine art of attention to detail. From the signature river stone massage offered in Le Spa to downtown limousine service and luxuriously appointed accommodations, no need is too small and no request goes unfulfilled. No wonder Fodor's described it as offering the ambience of "an exclusive European guest house."

Right downtown this hotel has everything you need, however I would have preferred a regular coffee maker in the room. The bed/pillows were nice and the front desk people were nice.

The hotel is very nice & central to everything you need . We walked everywhere from the hotel and we are in our 60s . Lovely bar to have a night cap and very friendly helpful staff

Pick a room with a King bed!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

This is an inner city hotel so lower your expectations. We often get a room with two queens but it was a big mistake here. I am under 5'3" and the beds are so high I had to roll off of them. Not a good option since the wall was two feet from the side of the bed and I could have been injured. Ouch! I use a CPAP and the outlets set in the night stand didn't work. Even though it was late, they graciously switched us to a larger room with a king bed. For some reason it had a bench at the end that was easy to bump into when getting up at night. Ouch! Fortunately the new room was larger with a sofa and several small tables. Everything else was up to standard: air-conditioning fairly quiet, shower hot (though inconsistent), black-out blinds worked effectively, nice motion-activated under bathroom counter light, several available usb ports and the bed was firm without being hard as a rock. They have a weird system for keeping track of food and drink charges in the room. We never even touched it but still were given a bill we had to dispute. I really appreciated the lovely indoor pool because it was filled with daylight through a skylight. Unfortunately, the dressing room was on another floor and someone needed to give me access to it. Everyone in our party enjoyed the breakfast buffet. I had to wait for someone to take my order for oatmeal and it was quite a while before it arrived. It was disappointing that they didn't have raisins to go with it. Oatmeal should always have raisins! Be advised, If you have to go somewhere in the morning, don’t order from the waitress, just get something from the buffet instead.

Very good hotel but disappointed with breakfast service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Ww stayed at The Sutton Place 2 nights before and Alaska cruise and for 1 night afterwards. The booking was made by our travel agent for room and buffet breakfast. This is a very nice place to stay and we liked our rooms (our two nights pre-cruise was in a larger room than the one after our cruise. We were slightly disappointed that rooms are not guaranteed to be available until 4pm, but this seems common in Canada. However, the hotel stored our luggage and delivered it to our room. Rooms are bright, well-appointed and with comfortable beds.Tea and coffee making is available in the rooms and dressing gowns and slippers are provided. Buffet breakfasts were included in our booking, but served breakfasts were also available. The buffet did not offer as wide a selection of items as some other hotels we have used. When we arrived for breakfast on our final morning, we had unsatisfactory service: the restaurant was busy but poorly organised. We waited for 15 minutes in line waiting for a table without any acknowledgement of our presence or apology for the delay. Pairs of tables for 2 were put together to seat 4 but left with 2 empty seats, which made the wait longer than necessary. Some of the serving staff were friendly and helpful but the male server or maitre-d' who eventually allocated a table to us after we complained was rude, made no apology and just said "we are very busy". Not a great impression for a 5-star hotel!

We stayed 5 nights at the Sutton Place Vancouver. The suite was very nice and the staff very professional. Spa treatments were very good. Afternoon tea, which was included in the package, was wonderful. Although we typically do not eat at hotel restaurants, the package included dinner and it too was excellent. It doesn’t get much better than Sutton Place.
