Pre and post cruise stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stayed one nigh prior to i our cruise and three nights after, arriving after a long flight and time difference we were told our room wasnt ready as it was being painted, fortunately the receptionist upgraded the room to a suite on floor 7 which was excellent, spacious and comfortable. Following the cruise we returned to a standard room, which again was plenty spacious given we were out all day exploring the wonderful city of Vancouver. Beds were the most comfortable hotel beds i have ever used. We ate breakfast at the hotel, usually the buffet which had plenty of choice and set us up for the day. We had one evening meal which was lovely, with very good service. All staff were knowledgeable and helpful. Our one quibble was that our room wasnt serviced on the first day, no problem after when we mentioned it to the reception staff. Our last day we were unable to arrange a late checkout but our luggage was stored so not a major problem. As others have said this hotel was very central for everything we wanted to do, the cruise terminal is a 10 minute walk, we also walked to Stanley Park and after 8 miles caught a taxi back. W e would definitely stay again if we ever have the opportunity to visit Vancouver again.

This hotel was very nice and in the city of Vancouver a lot of places you can walk to. It was close to many restaurants. The hotel was very clean and had a pool and hot tub. There was a restaurant at hotel and cafe for supplies and coffee. Taxi service was right out the door.

Right downtown this hotel has everything you need, however I would have preferred a regular coffee maker in the room. The bed/pillows were nice and the front desk people were nice.

Pick a room with a King bed!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

This is an inner city hotel so lower your expectations. We often get a room with two queens but it was a big mistake here. I am under 5'3" and the beds are so high I had to roll off of them. Not a good option since the wall was two feet from the side of the bed and I could have been injured. Ouch! I use a CPAP and the outlets set in the night stand didn't work. Even though it was late, they graciously switched us to a larger room with a king bed. For some reason it had a bench at the end that was easy to bump into when getting up at night. Ouch! Fortunately the new room was larger with a sofa and several small tables. Everything else was up to standard: air-conditioning fairly quiet, shower hot (though inconsistent), black-out blinds worked effectively, nice motion-activated under bathroom counter light, several available usb ports and the bed was firm without being hard as a rock. They have a weird system for keeping track of food and drink charges in the room. We never even touched it but still were given a bill we had to dispute. I really appreciated the lovely indoor pool because it was filled with daylight through a skylight. Unfortunately, the dressing room was on another floor and someone needed to give me access to it. Everyone in our party enjoyed the breakfast buffet. I had to wait for someone to take my order for oatmeal and it was quite a while before it arrived. It was disappointing that they didn't have raisins to go with it. Oatmeal should always have raisins! Be advised, If you have to go somewhere in the morning, don’t order from the waitress, just get something from the buffet instead.

We stayed 5 nights at the Sutton Place Vancouver. The suite was very nice and the staff very professional. Spa treatments were very good. Afternoon tea, which was included in the package, was wonderful. Although we typically do not eat at hotel restaurants, the package included dinner and it too was excellent. It doesn’t get much better than Sutton Place.
