Reviews for Warwick Le Lagon - Vanuatu

Friendly, comfortable, visually stunning

We booked 3 Lagoon Bungalows for our 10 day family stay at the Warwick in Port Vila and were surprised at how spacious the accommodation is with three separate rooms and a verandah, all with direct access to and views of the lagoon. The lagoon is beautiful and watching local people canoeing, fishing and playing made my day. Our bungalow had a king size bed while the other 2 also had a roll away bed for each of the children. Our rooms were cleaned daily and tea, coffee etc replenished but you need to bring an aero press or similar if you want to enjoy the local Tanna coffee which is delicious. A coffee press would be a welcome addition to the rooms. We all loved the bungalows which are great for families. The pools are really good and were never crowded and we used lots of the equipment, especially the kayaks, and did a lagoon scenic cruise and a snorkeling trip with Danny and Henry who were both exceptionally helpful and friendly to us. We saw three dugongs in the lagoon on our early evening cruise and the snorkeling out near the breakers was a big hit. The food overall was reasonable but the evening meals were expensive, had extremely limited gluten free options and eating out was more satisfying..especially at Cafe Vila which was excellent. Cafe Vila really caters well for food allergies and is quite close. We also enjoyed Umaiya which is just up the hill from Le Lagon and has quite a good range of delicious food. Breakfast was good and once we knew to ask for some gluten free bread, all our group were happy. Unfortunately there are no separate toasting facilities for those who have severe gluten allergies and no cereals available but our family member made do with fruit, yoghurt, baked beans etc while others experimented with different omelette combinations. The pool menu was good for the couple of days we stayed in at the resort and the kids enjoyed their free meals. It would be great to see a salad, fruit and cheese platter for kids as well as the current offerings and juice or similar. We had a local Digicel SIM with 10gb for our 10 days which worked well and other family members had Vodaphone roaming, which at $5 a day, worked out cheaper and better than the Warwick plan. We bought alcohol duty free at the airport and mixers and soft drinks from the shop up the hill..so much cheaper than buying it at the resort and biscuits, cheese, tomatoes etc for snacks from Bon Marche. We pack a knife and a thin cutting board for picnics etc and the front lawn was a perfect spot. We didn’t use the kids’ club for anything except as a playground as it was not very attractive or secure with the back gate open when we visited. The kids wanted pool and beach time anyway so it was not missed. Overall, Le Lagon was a great place for a family holiday and we would change just a few things..more gluten free and vegetarian options with all the food, free wifi for guests and a daily bulletin at breakfast so people know what’s happening, particularly things kids might like to do and evening events.

Wish we didn't have to leave!

The only negative about our trip was having to leave! We love the Warwick, and the staff are always so welcoming and they remember you which is amazing considering the amount of people they meet. We love being on the lagoon where we can sail, kayak and attempt stand up paddle boarding!!!! It is so picturesque and tranquil. The food was really really good! I don't think we had a bad meal to be honest. Fish of the day... Do yourself a favour and try this and the Ribeye, OMG yum! Shish Tawook by the pool at lunch, mmm delicious! We also have a Vegan family member and the Chef cooked his meals to perfection. A big thank you to Ramzy for always going out of his way to make sure we were being looked after. We met Ramzy on our trip back in July 2023 and had the pleasure of seeing him again this year. We also met Luc for the first time this year and nothing was too much trouble. They are both very accommodating, a pleasure to deal with and we hope to see them both again next year when we visit. Thank you so much to all at the Warwick Le Lagon, Annie, Inneth, Ronald, just to name a few. We can't wait to see you all again. Love the Fontana Family xxx

60th Birthday celebrations

We spent a week in your beautiful resort to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. Isabelle from Events was amazing in organizing a fabulous dinner on the waterfront jetty for our family, the attention to detail was sensational. Loved every minute of it!

Not 5 star … 3 Star max and that’s be generous.

For a 5 star resort I have never been so disappointed. First night slash day was a shamble. The reception did not seem to be able to check anyone in. After a good half an hour the staff were able to get somewhere and we were shown to our room. The room was nice, well kept and spacious for what we, as a couple needed and expected. We received lagoon view as paid for and that was a great view. In general the rooms are fine. The next worse point was when we enquired about wifi we were told that we would be charged for it. Hourly. I was extremely taken back as this is my first time staying in a resort where wifi does not come complementary. As it turned out, this was not common in any other resorts around the island. Just the Warwick. From here on out our experience at the Warwick did not improve and in some cases got worse. A very money grabbing resort after already paying for 5 star it was disappointing. If pool towel was not returned at 6pm, an extra $35 AUD was charged to your room per towel, per day. Even if you were still using it at the resort pools. The food was sub par and was very disappointing as in the Port we were able to get fresh fruit almost daily but it seems that the resort was unable to obtain this. General expense of meals was exuberant and this was shocking. I am willing to pay good money for good food…. But even the restaurant “Wild Ginger” was a joke. If you want a pizza that taste like cardboard with minimal toppings than the Warwick is where you want to go. We stayed 8 nights and only ate at the resort twice. That was enough for us to learn our lesson. In general the staff tried. They were friendly and very approachable, however it seemed they had no idea what they were doing. All in all, I would not recommend the Warwick especially not what you pay for it. There are plenty more resorts which offer more, do it better and don’t cost nearly as much.

Do not recommend. Pathetic experience and does not showcase the warmth of Port Vila and Vanuatu.

Do not recommend at all. Pathetic experience. Positives: - Swimming pool is picturesque - Rooms are quite spacious - it's a huge resort. Negatives: - Extremely poor customer service. I have examples to quote too - At 10:30 pm when we were sleeping, no door knocking but a staff opened the door to give us water bottles. It was so shocking and unbelievable as we have never experienced this anywhere. - We had put a sign on the door as DO NOT DISTURB and had gone for breakfast when we came back we saw the door opened and a person was cleaning the room - UNINVITED. - The breakfast menu wasn't as extensive as what you would expect out of a resort like Warwick. - Very money minded - pool towels need to be bought back the same day 6 pm and signed out if not 2600 Vatu fine. - Yes you read that right. - No free Wifi - again never heard of in my 10 years of travel especially from a resort. - Kids eat free - but they are served sub par meals. Our kids deserve better. - Staff are so cold - very different experience from other island we have been in ( Fiji, New Caledonia, Tanna) - Went to the Asian restaurant for dinner - Food was good - Chef was nice - But the place was Soo smelly and not well maintained - Bathrooms smelled so yuck near the pool and also the one next to the reception. We stayed at Holiday Inn and the service and food was excellent. Rooms were certainly smaller but would 100% go back to holiday inn. Never again to Warwick. So Disgusted with the experience. Please send your staff to Warwick Fiji to learn some basics including your GM, Team Leads etc. Rooms: Good size, but cannot take a single room sleeping 4 with pre teens or older. The bathrooms somehow are visible within the room. You have to see to understand. Safety: I did not feel safe as mentioned in my above review. Food & drinks: The food was very average for lunch and breakfast. Dinner at the Asian Restaurant was good but the place itself was very smelly
