Great relaxing week

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This resort was what we expected. The staff and management are exceptional. We had a couple of issues but the staff took care of them immediately. We loved the shows in the open courtyard and how close everything was. Our disappointments … the lounge chairs around the pool are plastic with no cushions so very hard on the back … we went to only one a la carte, the Italian, and I swear they brought the food from the buffet, no originality so we didn’t book anymore. I would recommend this resort but be prepared to put down $60 US deposit (you get back when you hand in your towels) on your beach towel and you won’t get the towel right away. You have to wait for the clubhouse to open and then wait for towels to be brought in. We waited till mid morning the next day for ours. You can’t exchange them for clean ones. They never have any, but it wasn’t a big deal as they dry very fast on balcony. Just not used to that. The beach is a little rocky with sharp stones. Bring water shoes. Beautiful none-the-less. We had one of the managers … Juan … step up and help us move some chairs and from then on he recognized us and looked out for us. We were very impressed. Again, we would recommend this resort. Thank you to all the staff and especially to Juan (Waun?) for making us feel very special.

Beautiful Beach and People, but would not suggest. Not going back.

You will notice I'm giving 2 Stars. 1 star for the Beach, it's beautiful white sand with very clean azure and comfortable Caribbean water. The walk into the water has some challenges with rocks, but minor detail once you are in that water. Another 1 star for the Staff, as always they are truly nice people, great service, smiles and very friendly. But that has always been the case with Cuban people. The loss of stars was the food, I hate to complain about it since we have food when they do not, but it was way worse and we had spoken to other hotels whom claimed they actually had good food, so this was isolated to this hotel. Toilet paper, wow the girls had to bring rolls with them because the outdoor bathrooms very rarely had paper. Other nuisances was House Flys buzzing in the Buffet area while trying to eat, really old rooms, Air Conditioning issues, lack of ice every afternoon (??) and what food they had, super salty. p.s. We did the Catamaran w/o Dolphins, really enjoyed it, strongly suggest.

The resort itself has everything i need for a relaxing getaway, from their amenities to a beautiful beach. I have made lasting friendships here, both with staff and fellow guests. Even when small issues came up, like room concerns or items we needed the staff and you know who you are I cannot mention everybody but you know who you are and love all of you especially Judith were approachable and quick to resolve things. It’s that kind of service and atmosphere that keeps me coming back year after year. Thank you Playa Alameda staff😍😍 I cannot mention everybody but all of you know who you are love all of you and will keep coming back xoxo mi Cubana familia 🙏🙏🇨🇺🇨🇺🇨🇦🇨🇦😍😍❤️❤️❤️

Do not believe the fake Cuban reviews!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I am not a newbie to Cuba this is time #7, there will not be an 8! Got to the hotel. 3 rooms to get 1 acceptable. Safe broken, room keys demagnetized after 1 use (7 times it happened), no water 3 times (not just hot but no water). Hot water was hit and miss. Power outages (ya I know it’s Cuba, but come on), This is the gem!, only a bottom sheet, we had to use those nasty blankets that never get washed in the closet, get pregnant sleeping on them….aaahhhh! The Food ….buffet was typical Cuban a couple nice desserts and ice cream, breaky was ok. You will really enjoy the fly’s. I think I counted 4,000,000 of them. Snack bar had delicious cold pink wieners for your pleasure, nothing else. The drinks…… no sealed bottled water, a glass container from the bar. I’m writing this from the toilet at home! If you get my drift! Ice was non existent after 3pm each day. Beach bar did have Beefeater gin so that was nice. Coffee ok. The pool…… oil slick, hair, cigarette butts, couldn’t do it! The beach….. the reason we come to Cuba, the thing that makes me look past all the little things. Not one review I read spoke of the 50’ of ankle twisting Apple size rocks that litter the ocean. But once you’ve made it through the mine field you will find that soft sandy clear water. Highlight was meeting M and J. As I said I have been to Cuba before but this place was $hit! All those broken english reviews are FAKE! Hope you have better luck than me and the bride. Cheers,
