IBEROSTAR Playa Alameda Hotel

Good trip for the most part Feb. 2 - 16th. Due to situation in Cuba, it is understandable. About 45 min ride to resort. Small resort, little walking to anything you want. Bridge over pond was roped off, badly need of repair. Bridge over pool looked like it could use some fixing up as well. Nice pathway to beach, looked new. Easy check in. Given refurbished room. Mattress on box spring on floor. Bathroom was ok. Most days hot shower. Fridge had 2 beers and 2 pops. Nothing for remainder of 2 weeks. Yes, I did ask. Patio door was extremely hard to open and close, so after first try, we left it alone. Glass bottle of water brought each day. A few English channels on tv. Each night there we killed a minimum of 2 cockroaches in room. Buffet had breakfast,lunch,dinner. Repetitive, but they do what they can with what they have. 3 a la carte, that rotate opening. We tried Italian and Romantica. Slightly better than buffet food. Lobby bar, rum/cigar bar, pool bar, beach bar. Some also served coffee. Pool bar served ham/cheese sandwiches and chicken salad sandwiches, all they had. Day before arrival was large storm. Ocean threw all kinds of crap on the beach. It was still there when we left. Lots of palapas on beach, lots of chairs, lots were broken. Same around pool. Large pool, clean. The Cuban people are all lovely, friendly. But I think they saw what was coming. They keep smiling through their pain.

This was my first trip to Cuba and will not be the last. Beach was beautiful! Food was good. The resort is dated but had all that we needed and more! The staff here were my favorite part! So kind and sincere. Everyone who works there went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing experience!! Special thanks to Yudisley and Maria from the buffet in particular. Viva Cuba!

I have enjoyed beautiful days here at this amazing hotel, I would like return soon with my friends. It is a lovely resort with a helpful staff.

Without question, the best thing about this resort is the staff. From the welcoming drink upon arrival to the moment we had to come home, the staff went out of their way to make you feel special, welcomed and loved. The food was plentiful and tasty, the drinks were delicious (they do not water down the rum🤣) and available all day long. Beautiful beach and pool area. Nightly entertainment, music and dancing.
