IBEROSTAR Playa Alameda Hotel

We have stayed in a lot of hotels in Varadero, but Playa Alameda is our go-to. Check-in is efficient and friendly. If by chance you have arrived before the rooms are ready, you are welcome to use all of the facilities, and your luggage is kept safe. The lobby has been freshened up and is bright and clean. The lobby bar and entertainment area is where we spend a lot of our time, just relaxing and chatting with visitors and staff. There's always lots of rum 😜 but mixers can get scarce... (bring if you have a specific thing you want) Cuba, being an island with a US embargo, means that even the basics can be difficult for them to attain. Because of this, some things are not always available daily. The staff here are wonderful! Yaciel, Judit, Aidolys, Yudisley, and Wendy are just a few of the lovely, hard-working people who keep this resort at the top of our list. The cleaning staff and grounds keepers are ever vigilant, keeping the property clean and tidy. The rooms are large and bright, with big bathrooms. The beds are pretty comfortable, and the rooms are well maintained. We charge our phone using the USB on the tv. Note: Keep the tv on for charging. Water is provided via glass bottles brought to your room. Bring your own portable mug to have water outside of your room. Due to protecting the natural environment, plastic bottles are not readily available, but you can get water refills from any of the bars. The pool is shallow except for one end, and it is clean. The pool snack bar is conveniently placed right in the middle of the pool area, and the bathrooms usually always have toilet paper 😉 If there is an issue, simply report it to the front desk, and it will be taken care of. I never leave my room without tissue regardless of if I am on or off resort. Poolside chairs are often swooped up by travellers who put out a towel on them in the dark and leave it there all day. This is a visitor issue, not a resort issue. Get creative 😉 The buffet is buffet quality food. You should only go hungry if you choose to. The meat, pasta, and omelet stations let you mix things up a bit for variety. Note: The butter is with the cheese, and the bread is delicious 😋 The Italian a la carte is our favourite, with Cuban a close second. Book your table at 9am...don't wait too long, there are limited tables per seating time. The beach is amazing!! There is no issue getting into the water here, but if the weather has mixed things up a bit, just walk down a bit and find a spot that suits you better for walking in. There are plenty of chairs and shade umbrellas. Tipping is not mandatory. However, it IS necessary ♡ Canadians do not eat, stay at a hotel, or go to a bar at home without tipping, so we certainly shouldn't expect to not tip for service when we travel 🥴 BE KIND! If you can't be kind, stay home🙏 Enjoy every second of your stay, because you will miss it once you get home 🎊

One if the best little resorts, from reception to the beach, everyone will welcome you with smiles and courtesy. The beach is wonderful, rooms are fine, it is an older hotel. But the hospitality is what makes this place so special. You can’t help but fall in love with them. Makes this hotel have many return guests whom we love to see every time we go. Come discover this little gem and join our growing family!

We were disappointed with this resort, particularly given the strong reputation of the Iberostar hotel chain. While the layout, beach, architecture and gardens were appealing, and most of the staff were friendly, we encountered numerous issues during our stay. Many items in our room were either missing or on the verge of breaking, such as the door handle, towel rack, iron and the safe, which was not secured to the wall(!). Towels were changed only once, and the bed sheets appeared unchanged, as we noticed the same stain every day. The washroom was not clean; significant dirt remained until our last day. Additionally, we found a dirty glass in the fridge upon our arrival. The food was repetitive and lacked flavour. We understand the limitations due to the embargo, but even the cooking methods were mediocre. I suffered from food poisoning after dining at the gourmet restaurant, which forced me to spend 1.5 days in my room with a high fever and stomach issues. When we reported this to the service desk, we were instructed to go to an emergency center since no doctor was available that day. Even if a doctor had been present, we were informed that they did not have any medications on hand. There was no follow-up from management regarding this issue. Overall, I cannot recommend this resort and would not return.

We were welcomed back to Cuba at Iberostar origin playa alameda 2025 and have had an incredible stay. From the reception and the beach we have gotten to know know all the staff so well. They have taken care of our every need and demand. We have been able to relax on our lazy beach days and party for our entertainment and parties. I have danced and I have gotten massages all incredibly and the staff are incredible! I worked trust them with my life!! 😄🇨🇺🇨🇦💕😄

Overall positive experience at this resort! It was my first time and I will return again in the future. We arrived during a slow time of year so it was easy to assess the beach, pool, and other services. Beach is in good condition and pool adequate size. The entertainment staff are a lot of fun and all of the staff are very caring and attentive.
