Five Stars for Cuba

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Five stars for Cuba--nowhere else has these beautiful people, who try harder to make their guests feel extra special and valued. We have been to the Paradisus 4 times now (it's now our annual must-do) and we have always been treated like family. They take their resources and make magic. We stay on the Royal Service side, and enjoy quiet days poolside with activities arranged for our entertainment and some special tasting menu meals poolside are a treat. The team at RS Paradisus can not be beat! A+++

Paradisus is paradise….

Paradisus is paradise…. This is one of the best resorts in Varadero you will find. It is hard to understand reading some of the bad reviews as I’m not sure what people are expecting when going to Cuba, the country has suffered since Covid and Cuba was hit hard, it is recovering, people need to understand that it takes time. People who have been going to Cuba for years see the beauty in what they offer considering what they have to work with, and when you take a moment to really understand that you will notice what they do will amaze you. Sometimes you just have to look beyond a minor repair, or something missing on a buffet … maybe look the amazing people who work hard to ensure your happy, doing their absolute best they can for you, the most gorgeous beach and ocean you will probably find in the Caribbean , a beautiful resort with every amenity you could possibly need. We have visited Paradisus Varadero every year for many years and is our go to destination, and we are excited to be going back again in February, we have always stayed in Royal Service. From the time you arrive you are certainly treated like royalty. All the staff have such a warm friendliness, treat you with respect and give you a welcoming family feel. Right from the reception everyone is really helpful and prepared to ensure an easy check in. Your butlers will attend to any and all your needs and make sure you’re comfortable and familiar with the resort. All the staff are truly amazing. The suites are absolutely beautiful, well equipped and the overall service is beyond excellent. Our room from the terrace we could view the ocean and feel the breeze. The location of our room was absolutely perfect. This is a huge resort , there are so many areas to explore, it has beautiful fun and relaxing pools, amazing beach, very clean and clear water, with many places to relax and chill. The scenery is beautiful , there are so many places to take a walk and take in a quiet and peaceful environment. They provide great entertainment, and great evening social experiences. The view of the sunrise and sunsets from the resorts location; the best in Varadero. There are many restaurants, from a private restaurant in Royal Service, buffets , numerous ala carte’s, and there is always great selection. We have to give such a special shout out to Mannie the Royal service manager who makes sure you are happy and runs a great team, Javier and Yamir our butlers who have truly become not just friends but family and they make sure you will have an unforgettable experience, Jorge the most amazing Bartender in Cuba, Datsy who is always making time around the pool fun, and for sure have to mention all the servers , housekeeping, and grounds keepers who just go above and beyond everyday … Like said when started writing this.. Paradisus is really just paradise…. Make sure you look past some of the little things and see the real beauty.

If I could give a negative number to this resort I wouldn’t even hesitate. Where should I start ? Upon our arrival (evening) we were checked into our room. The reception (only one person working) forgot to give us some important information which we found out the next day. Entering the room , everything looked ok. No complains there, that is until we decided to take a shower. There was literally no hot water, not even luke warm. Just cold . We called it a night and waited for the next morning. The next day, we went to get familiar with the resort. To my huge surprise it was so empty. I am talking about maybe 15-20 people MAX at the resort. The grounds were empty!!! From the first day, it was quite a shock to be what felt the only ones there. There were more workers than guests. After breakfast , we decided to go to the beach. We went to get our towels, to which the lady at the booth asked us for the ticket. What ticket? Oh the one they the reception area had to give us when we check in the night before. Obviously we didn’t have that , so we went back to the reception and got that towel ticket. The resort didn’t provide any entertainment during the day (no music, no pool games, nothing). The food at the resort was ok. You could find something to eat if you’re not picky. The service personalle are great - no complains there. The issue that we had is that , the rooms didn’t get replenished with drinks. Only 1 water bottle and 2 juices for two people. The grounds are beautiful, but there are a lot of places that had still water and therefore, tons of mosquitoes . In addition, the a la carte restaurants, had no labels no signs. You just have to take a guess where you’re going to. At night, super unsafe to walk because there are no lights on the path. You’re walking in darkness with your phone at hand for some light. The biggest problem that set us off to never return to this place is - there was no hot water ! We couldn’t shower for the past 3 days. On day 4 we were done! We moved to a different resort (10 min away) and it was spectacular. It literally saved our vacation. It was my husband’s first time in Cuba and thank god we managed to move somewhere else. Do NOT come to Paradisus! It is far away from being a paradise . Dead resort , terrible management, will never ever come back.

One of the best resorta in Varadero

I spent a week at this resort and absolutely loved it. Seriously, from the moment I checked in until I left, everything was amazing. The staff here are just incredible, so good and super welcoming. Especially Yodalis, Victor Manuel, Aylin, Joseph, Mirlandis, Ovidio, Melvin, and Ramón Manuel – they really went above and beyond to make our stay even better. I'm definitely planning to come back soon. The beach was spotless every day, and that turquoise water? Totally worth it. My only suggestion would be to maybe have a pool table for regular guests and offer activities like scuba diving and such.

terrible HOTEL

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I have travelled to cuba many times and this was the worst time ever. Hotel needed a lot of work, falling apart. our room had water constantly coming down from the ceiling. our clothes got wet, they did not care, even with pieces of ceiling falling down. we were in bottom level, leak above us. Nothing done about it. Staff may seem nice, but they are not. They think there on vacation at the hotel. Service sucked. Cockroaches in our room. In one night killed 6. there about 2 inches big. In reserve section one night none of the ladies washrooms worked. Had to use mens and when complained they laughed at me. only two restaurants open, and food was from the buffet. I could go on. Just dont go
