Varadero, Cuba

This is a beautiful resort, with a stunning beach - calm, clear, beautiful water. While the food did not offer a great selection, I put this down to the scarcities caused by Trump's illegal embargo. The staff were gracious, friendly and provided excellent service. We were lucky enough to watch a pickleball match that Miguel played with one of the guests. He was wonderful to watch and very positive with us guests!

With the background of over 15 visits to Cuba over the years, Paradisus Varadero rates as our personal #1 resort. Following this recent, third-time visit, we now intend to book this resort over all others in future. The beach is excellent,,,the service consistently warm and friendly. We also appreciated the opportunity to learn a few things from the resident tennis pro, Miguel. Considering the international situation at the moment, we were amazed at the continuing good nature and resilience of the Cuban people. As we said on departure to staff members as we left..."we shall return!"

Saludos I take back what I said, the bathrooms don’t have hot water. The air doesn’t cool. The food is scarce, little entertainment, no animal welfare, I just found out they are hunting the kittens and puppies that roam and live here longer than many workers, and they are the only sincere thing the hotel has and they are very affectionate. In short, the stay was horrible. Very expensive for the few offers they have. The bad atmosphere and how inefficient they are with entertainment. But what I found worst was about the little animals that are more than animals, they are living companionship, and according to the words of the person who cleans the pools, from the bosses themselves the order is to kill all the animals. And I repeat, I couldn’t eat anything, there is never any food. I don’t understand why they charge so much if there is nothing. I absolutely do not recommend coming to this hotel. Disgusting. Regards.

We just returned from a week in the Royal Service section and had a great time. I cannot name individual staff as every single person we encountered were fantastic and made our holiday fabulous. The weather was not on our side for a few days but we lacked for nothing and the staff made the hotel feel like a home. I am keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers as you get through this difficult time. Until we meet again. Renee

Went to varadero Cuba January 28th to Feb 4th. Cuba IS experiencing food shortage and power outages. The food at Paradisus varadero was brutal. (Not a 5 start) Unless you like to eat papaya, pasta, rice everyday. Salad bar choices cabbage, pumpkin, cucumber, kale, green peppers No salad dressing (so take with you also no pepper just salt) Breakfast you could have eggs no sausages OR bacon except blood sausage cold deli ham. Resort can have over 1200 people but less than 400. We arrived at 330 and had to wait til 4 to get room. I have been to Cuba 5 times and this is the worst I have seen it. Strongly recommend NOT going til situation gets better. Perhaps Cuba should invest in green houses so they could have food instead of building more resorts with no people.
