Hotel Unaccountable for a Situation They Created!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

Just can't believe how a 5 star hotel would not do the right thing after placing us in a room that was above an incredibly loud, pulsating wedding reception that lasted until close to midnight. We paid over $1000 per night and expected to have a great stay. Instead, on our first night, we enter to find the entire room shaking from an incredibly loud wedding reception below us. The bass was pounding as if someone was jackhammering in inside. I seldom, if ever, complain about such things, but for the price I paid and volume of the music banging into our room, I called only to be told, "It will end around 11:30pm". So here you have a 5 star hotel, knowing a wedding will be taking place and yet still placing their guest in a room directly above. The music finally stopped about 11:45pm at which point we both had headaches. We weren't able to get to sleep until after 2am when we were finally able to relax and have the painkillers kick in. To top it off, we had an early am tour of St. Marks and the Doge Palace booked. To say we were a bit off that next morning is an understatement. Okay, so a hotel like this will do the right thing and refund some of that $1000, right? Oh no... after asking to see the General Manager a number of times and being told they weren't there or to try later, I was sent a bottle of sparkling wine. Seriously? That's more insulting than helpful. I then sent an email to the hotel explaining my disappointment. The response? Oh wait, there was no response. The hotel is beautiful. The location is perfect. But their resistance to refunding any part of the first night's stay for a situation they had to know ahead of time was going to happen is just unacceptable for a hotel such as this. First priority of any hotel is to provide a good night's sleep. The Baglioni Luna failed miserably in that regard. A Motel 6 would have a better night's sleep. Stay here if you like, but just be aware.

Unexplained charges on my credit card

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Immensely disappointed with this hotel… I would not recommend this and will not be staying here on my future visits. 1. Charging my room for Items… Then not being able to tell me what these items are but insisting that the expenses valid. They have all the ignored me… So I guess once you pay, you’re no longer a customer. I am now going through American Express to fight this - A disappointing way to end my trip to Venice! on that note . 2. They provide your postcard in your room… It’s a beautiful postcard. But don’t ask the front desk or concierge for help on mailing it or where you’re supposed to go to get a stamp… “I don’t know that’s not something we do” 3. Our lights kept flickering throughout the night in the hallway of our room… What a peaceful way to enjoy your sleep time Honestly, overall, it’s the service that turned me off to this hotel.

3 Star Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Feels like a 3 or 4 star hotel, certainly well short of a luxury five star experience. We booked a week in one of the best suites with a large terrace overlooking the lagoon. From initial check in we knew we had made a mistake. None of the professionalism you expect from a luxury hotel. The room was tired and in need of maintenance. NOT shabby chic, just shabby. The terrace was poorly maintained and the view included scaffolding right at the end of the terrace. The only thing to commend in the hotel was the lady bartender who made some great variations on a classic Negroni, was both friendly and professional and is frankly too good for the hotel. No milk or black tea on the room so called down for tea. Service was poor, with a surly comment about having to pay for the tea. Breakfast was another disappointment. The hall it is served in was once opulent but is patched and worn and the chairs cheap and uncomfortable. The breakfast service is a buffet scrum for mediocre food, reminded me of a low end Hilton in a provincial English town. Pastries were stale and an order from the à la carte menu was met with incredulity that anyone might actually want to pay extra for something better than the standard swill. We went straight around the corner and booked ourselves into the Gritti Palace which is a true five star experience and everything a quality hotel should be.

This was such a lovely experience - suite was very comfortable, view was great, employees simply lovely … it came across so authentically that they cared about our experience, breakfast was great, ground / water transfers were executed flawlessly.

At Luna Hotel Baglioni, we received the absolute best service and the most beautiful room! The gourmet meal included in the package was superb! I would highly recommend this property. It was centrally located near San Marco square also. The time went by too quickly...very romantic also. We hope to go back very soon.
