Reviews for Ca' di Dio

Fantastic hotel. Great location, beautiful interiors and great staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

From start to finish our stay was fantastic. The location is great with easy walking distance to many major sites. Lots of restaurants and bars close by too. Our room was beautifully appointed as is the entire hotel. Breakfast was a delight. Amazing staff and delicious buffet with the option for cooked eggs made to order. We enjoyed a few drinks at the bar and again like all the staff they were helpful and very attentive. The staff on the front desk organised a water taxi for us on one evening and also one for the airport with everything being seamless. Highly recommended and we will return again. Also a great courtyard which looked lovely (sadly we didn’t have great weather) but they have a nice set up with furniture and a bar there too.

Lovely new hotel in a quiet location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Staff were always very helpful, location was good as was near various vaporetto stops, in a quiet area relative to other hotels, rooms were a good size/format, with turn downs/regular cleans throughout the day, breakfast, lunch & dinner available, as well as small spa/sauna facilities, which were slightly smaller than expected, but wasn't an issue, with massage if requested. A complimentary tour to Murano was also a pleasant surprise. Certainly worth a stay here if you can.

We'll be back!

we loved the entire experience, from how we were welcomed at check in to the wonderful breakfast every morning! Have already recommended to friends who are coming in May! We were upgraded to a lovely room and appreciated the details and warmth through out.

A wonderful retreat in Venice

Ca di Dio lived up to the generous praise it receives online. Its Castello location is ideal: close to the Giardini for Biennale attendees or runners, a minute from the Arsenale Alilauro ferry stop for easy access to and from the airport, and very quiet compared to the nearby insanity of San Marco. The hotel has a strong, modern design sense with beautiful furniture, and lovely, welcoming common spaces both indoors and out. We were upgraded courtesy of Amex Platinum to an Executive Suite which was spacious: comfortable bed, separate small sitting room, excellent closet space and very good walk-in shower; since our room was on the top floor with very small windows the “lagoon view” was hard to glimpse, but we could watch the construction in the yard next door (happily the noise was not a problem). The staff were very friendly and always eager to help. Housekeeping was discreet and efficient. We particularly enjoyed the lovely bar with its excellent Negronis (original and sal) and delicious aperitivi (those pickled peaches and Sicilian olives!). Breakfast was a generous spread and we enjoyed our private sauna (though we should have been told of the €25 charge before rather than after). Compared to the prices of other 5* hotels in Venice (the Gritti, Cipriani, Aman etc), Ca di Dio seems almost reasonable!

Probably the best location in Venice with sublime service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

A truly beautiful hotel situated away from all the hustle and bustle a few minutes away by foot. The Ca’ Di Dio is set up in a very old building from the 13th century, which has been beautiful renovated. The ambience is cozy and relaxed. The staff will welcome you with a smile, always, with a very friendly and attentive attitude. The hotel itself is bright and gives you an airy feel. It has a rather big court inside, where you can have a bite to eat or simply relax with a book over a cup of coffee. If you decide to take the water bus from the airport (Bay B12 at the end of the water taxi stops), the boat ride takes about 70min, which is well worth the trip for 18€. You will get your first proper impression of this amazing Lagoon! If you take the stop at Arsenale (pronounced e, not silent like the football club), the hotel is literally right there! The rooms are very modern, the beds, as has mentioned before, are a DREAM! We had our room on the third floor with a court yard view. The quietest stay I have had in a while and our sleeps were heavenly! Regarding pricing…the hotel does come with an elevated price tag, but rightfully so, not only is it situated at a prime location with an amazing view onto the sea and spectacular scenery of Venice, it also has been awarded with five stars, rightfully so! Its interior design is immaculate, with most of the glassware displayed handmade in Murano. We felt very welcome and very spoiled, with an amazing selection of breakfast every morning delivered to our room. We shared one meal as it was plentiful and delicious. Venice isn’t very big, it is easily walkable with plenty amazing eateries in close vicinity (Nevodi, Rosticceria Gislon). Private water taxis come at a hefty price tag. We got a short trip a bit inside San Marco as my husband couldn’t walk well and we had to pay 100€! That was way too much for a maximum 10min ride. I would advice to hop on one of the water buses (under 10€ for 75’ or a day pass but not sure how much that cost). The only negative I have to mention, sadly so, it was our first anniversary on the day we departed. My husband had ordered a beautiful bouquet of red roses, the staff kept it for me in water as we left the hotel quite late in the evening. Unfortunately by the time we wanted to leave, staff had changed to night shift, which may not have been informed about the flowers. Our suitcases were kindly placed at the boat exit, however nobody, including us remembered the roses. That was a very sad moment for me when I stepped off the boat at the airport realising I had left them behind. The sentimental value was indescribable and it broke my heart. Nonetheless, we will surely return to this wonderful hotel in the near future!
