Elegant, majestic, noble. Venice is the most coveted of destinations for romantic travellers around the world. It is precisely the heart of the that accommodates Ca’ di Dio. A place to live the Venetian charm with an exclusive look into the secrets of the aquatic city.

This hotel was just perfect! We previously stayed at the very posh Gritti Palace (just down the Grand Canal from Ca' Di Dio) right before moving on to this hotel, and we honestly were much happier here. The entire hotel looks new and fresh, with a mid-century modern vibe that is a refreshing change from the classic Palazzo-style. Just far enough away from Piazza San Marco for privacy but still close enough to walk everywhere and easily take water transportation. The staff here are AMAZING, the Concierge Miguel was super helpful to give us information on the Biennale and local pharmacies on a holiday, the breakfast room hostess Beatriz was incredibly friendly and accommodating and a pleasure to see every morning, and our fabulous bartender Dinith at The Alchemia Bar was somehow able to single-handedly make fantastic cocktails, take orders, serve food and drinks, and deal with a nearly full room of guests by himself on a rainy holiday evening while keeping a smile on his face. The rooms are beautiful with tons of storage space, the hotel has a clean and simple aesthetic, and the center courtyard is beautiful with lots of space for various activities or dining. We highly recommend this hotel and would love to return.

I recently stayed at Hotel Ca' di Dio and unfortunately left quite disappointed. While the property itself is attractive and located on the waterfront, the overall experience fell far short of what I would expect from a luxury hotel, especially one participating in the Chase Edit program. Location The location is decent but not ideal for first-time visitors to Venice. While the hotel is situated on the water, it is noticeably removed from many of Venice's most iconic attractions, including St. Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge. Walking to the main tourist areas takes longer than from many other luxury hotels in Venice. Service The biggest disappointment was the service, which was consistently poor throughout our stay. We booked through Chase Edit, which advertises benefits including: Room upgrade (subject to availability) $100 property credit Complimentary breakfast Early check-in Late check-out (up to 4:00 PM, subject to availability) Unfortunately, the hotel did not seem interested in honoring these benefits. No Pre-Arrival Communication Prior to arrival, the hotel never contacted us to inquire about preferences, arrival time, early check-in needs, or late check-out requests. This is standard practice at many luxury hotels and would have helped set expectations. Early Check-In Not Honored We arrived at approximately 2:00 PM and requested an early check-in. Our room was not ready and we were asked to wait an additional hour. Considering we only needed a modest one-hour early check-in, this was disappointing and did not feel aligned with the benefits associated with the booking program. Upgrade Not Honored The hotel did not provide any room upgrade despite availability appearing to exist throughout our stay. While checking in, I verified on the hotel's own website that upgraded room categories remained available for the entire duration of our reservation. The lack of upgrade felt inconsistent with the program benefits and left the impression that little effort was made to accommodate the request. Late Check-Out Not Honored The most frustrating experience occurred on departure day. The hotel declined our late check-out request and instead informed us that extending the room would cost €50 for every additional 30 minutes. Given that upgraded rooms and availability appeared to exist, it felt as though the hotel was more interested in generating additional revenue than honoring the Chase Edit benefits associated with the reservation. Mediocre Breakfast Breakfast was underwhelming for a hotel at this price point and category. The selection was basic and did not include made-to-order egg dishes as part of the standard offering, which is something I would consider a minimum expectation at a five-star property. Poor Handling of Water Taxi Departure Before departure, we asked the hotel to arrange a water taxi. The taxi ultimately arrived approximately 45 minutes late. During that delay there was no proactive communication from the hotel and no meaningful follow-up. We repeatedly had to seek updates ourselves. Rather than attempting to contact alternative operators or provide solutions, staff simply acknowledged the delay without taking ownership of the situation. Overall Impression What disappointed me most was not any single issue but the overall lack of hospitality and proactive service. Throughout our stay, interactions felt transactional rather than guest-focused. This was easily the weakest service experience we encountered during our trip to Italy and, frankly, not what I would expect from a luxury property. While the hotel itself is attractive, the service level felt closer to that of a much lower-rated hotel. Given the number of outstanding luxury options available in Venice, I would recommend that travelers carefully consider alternatives before booking Hotel Ca' di Dio.

Everything about this stay was perfect. From the staff to the design of rooms and common spaces to the food-everything was delightful and true to showing the history and current vibrance of Venice.

I travel a lot with my children (11 & 15). We typically stay in luxury, boutique hotels whenever possible. There’s an expectation of excellence in service when you choose a hotel in that category. Ca’ di dio is perfection. Let me tell you why. It’s stunning- the pictures looks exactly like the property. I stayed in an executive suite and it was extremely comfortable. There was a thoughtful welcome gift that we enjoyed (some local snacks). They accommodated all of my pre-arrival preferences. The courtyard is the absolute best part of the property. It’s a welcomed relaxing space (with a bar that serves the best Hugo Spritz) that felt indulgent after a long day. That all aside- the actual reason why you should stay here is because of the people that work there. Ivan, the concierge, isn’t just knowledgeable, he went above and beyond for us. We looked forward to seeing him and asking for suggestions and loved them all. Maria welcomed us and provided the absolute best recommendations as well. She knew who we were and remembered all of our discussions in a way that showed what luxury customer service is. Filipino did so as well and was always so friendly and accommodating. The bottom line is- the hotel is in the perfect location, is beautiful, but most importantly, provides true luxury customer service that I appreciated. I will remember my time in Venice, but I will also remember the people that helped make it great. Thank you for the lovely stay. I will be back.
