Venice, Italy is the great monument to the Renaissance and has stood as it does today for over five hundred years. Overlooking the Grand Canal, with an incomparable view of Venice, Hotel Gritti Palace is one of the world's most celebrated hotels. The city is steeped in history, architecture and art dating from the Byzantine Empire - a series of islands connected by bridges and divided by canals of every size. Commissioned in 1525 as the residence of the Doge of Venice, Hotel Gritti Palace has welcomed kings and queens, prime ministers and presidents, and elite guests with its luxuriously appointed rooms and exceptional service.

Beautiful room and great location — that’s where the 5-star experience ended. Housekeeping missed basic amenities (human error, fair enough). Then came a billing mistake at dinner, which no one flagged to the front desk. Tip: check your bill carefully at checkout OR you don’t mind paying your next table for a dinner 😉. Worst part? Dropped at the wrong water taxi stop with no assistance. Five suitcases, zero help — hope you're fit for your departure workout. A luxury check-in, but a DIY check-out. And water? ONLY Two complimentary bottles. After that, it’s minibar prices or if you don’t mind drinking from the tap??? Tips n trick “(not a complain)” If you're paying extra for a Grand Canal View, don’t assume you’ll get a balcony — that detail isn’t clearly stated on the website. For the premium price, you’d expect more than just a maybe. Plenty of style, but the service needs to catch up with the stars.

We had a wonderful few days at Gritti Palace. It's hard to think there is a better location on the Grand Canal. Cocktails on the terrace of the Riva lounge is an experience not to be missed. Service and food quality is impeccable. Luxury shopping is a five minute walk away. If you prefer not to eat in the hotel there a dozens of acceptable restaurants within a fifteen minute walk from the hotel. The location is convenient for any tour of Venice. We used the hotel transfer from the cruise port and to the airport. Everything went smoothly and the service was first rate. We read about all the backlash against tourism by locals is many of the popular European cities. We wandered through the neighborhoods and found nothing but friendly and welcoming locals.

What a dream to stay here! The staff knew our names within a day and were always so kind and gracious. We were updated for Platinum status and had a lovely appointed room. Breakfast was lovely - both the food and the view. the location was perfect as well.

A heartfelt thank-you to Liana at The Gritti Palace — her kindness moved us deeply and created an unforgettable memory for our family. During our stay in Venice, my daughter received a charming little lion souvenir which quickly became her favorite keepsake. Unfortunately, after we returned home we lost it. Hoping to purchase a replacement, I contacted the hotel. Liana arranged to send us a new lion all the way from Venice to the U.S.—completely free of charge. Even more special, she included a sweet handwritten letter written as if from the lion itself to my daughter! She even asked me if my daughter had given the little lion a name so she could use it to sign off the letter, but because I replied too late the letter had already been sent — and when we received it, we found she had thoughtfully printed a cute little lion face as a substitute. This kind of heartfelt care defines the hospitality at The Gritti Palace. It shows that guests here are treated like family, and the staff truly care about creating memorable experiences. This kind of heartfelt care defines the hospitality at The Gritti Palace. Liana showed us what truly beyond-five-star service means — helping a little girl be reunited with her beloved lion toy, and as parents we are sincerely grateful to her.

The absolute highlight of our last trip was the cooking class with Chef Franco. He took us early in the morning to shop for fresh ingredients at the local market, with a quick stop at a lovely bacaro, before heading back to the incredible kitchen. We made a variety of dishes while enjoying some wine, and wrapped up the session by devouring the delicious bites we’d prepared. It was our first cooking class, and honestly, we’ve been hesitant to try another since; it’s hard to imagine anything living up to the experience Chef Franco gave us. Overall, I can’t say enough about this property and the wonderful team behind it.
