We stayed two nights and were overall pleased with the location and the room itself—until everything fell apart late on our first night. Around 11pm, water began leaking through the ceiling in a steady stream. Staff came, looked at it, and immediately told us to pack up and leave the room. We were moved four doors down to another suite that was similar but clearly not as nice. Having to pack, unpack, and relocate at midnight was a complete mess and totally disrupted our night. The next evening when I went to the front desk to settle the bill (they had asked us to do so because of a billing system transition at midnight), I calmly asked whether there would be any adjustment for the inconvenience. The response was essentially “we moved you to another room” delivered with a dismissive “ehhh” attitude. No apology was offered at the desk either night. A late-night ceiling leak that forces a midnight room move is already bad enough. Handling the follow-up with zero acknowledgment of the disruption and a flat refusal to consider even a small gesture made it worse. We weren’t looking for a free night—just basic recognition that the situation was handled poorly. That never came.

Great location with beautiful canal views and easy access to everything. The front desk team—especially Isaac—made an incredible first impression. Our room had classic Venetian charm but was smaller than expected for a Deluxe Double Canal View category with much smaller windows than advertised on the website, though spotless and comfortable for sleeping. Noise is part of the setting with gondolas, vaporettos, and the terrace restaurant below, but shutters and windows blocked most of it at night. Hotel staff were superb across the board, but the restaurant service was surprisingly rude (including between each other), which lowered the overall experience, particularly being hotel guests & not people walking in off the streets. Patricio (& the food), however, were outstanding, and the hotel-arranged airport meet & greet drivers to the water‑taxi transfers were out of this world which set the immediate expectation of the hotel. You pay a price for this service, but ‘When in Rome…’ (or Venice).

Stayed for 2 nights, for Andrea Bocceli concert. This is our fifth stay in this hotel, amazing place. Arriving by water taxi is a brilliant experience, staff is very friendly and helpful, we had a beautiful room overlooking the Grand Canal. Rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. Breakfast is excellent, the view from the terrace overlooking the Grand Canal is amazing and an experience to remember. We also had drinks on the terrace, and booked dinner which did not disappoint, the fillet of beef with truffles was delicious. Hotel is very central, excellent location to explore Venice. No doubt we will return

This is a 5 Star hotel for location and ascetic beauty. We had one of thw few rooms with a Grand Canal view. Spectacular! However, the maintenance was lacking...toilet flush was sporadically failing, A/C was purely a facade, drains were slow at best. The reason this rating gets reduced to a 3 star i( really should be 2.5) s the staff...especially the front desk. Indifferent and condescending would be the polite way to describe MOST of the front desk staff. Rude and apathetic would be more accurate. When I book a 4-5 star hotel, I expect excellent service. If that's what you are looking for in Venice, stay somewhere else. The Hotel Monaco has the customer experience if a Best Western
