Not Luxury Treatment

I just checked out this morning from Hotel Metropole in Venice and had high hopes based on its beautiful appearance and good location. While the hotel certainly has its charm my experience can only give it only 3 stars. Ok talk about the positives. The hotel is indeed beautiful and situated in a lovely area, making it convenient for exploring the streets of Venice. However, the service left much to be desired. Throughout our stay, I often felt that the staff was more put out by our presence than welcoming. One of the biggest disappointments was the king-size bed in our suite. It turned out to be two smaller beds pushed together with a mattress topper, which made for a very uncomfortable night’s sleep. Then add the noise from the neighboring room dogs that barked all three nights of our stay. We also encountered issues having our tea time at the hotel. The staff seemed indifferent to our presence, lacking the warm hospitality one would expect from a five-star establishment. On one occasion, we asked the front desk to make dinner reservations for us. After waiting over two hours with no update, we called to follow up, only to be told they hadn’t had any luck reaching the restaurant. So I called myself and to my surprise, they answered right away. This was not the level of service I’ve come to expect from this hotel brand especially based on my experiences in Taormina, where the service was far superior. Lastly, I was disappointed to discover that the hotel does not have its own gym. Instead, guests must walk to a facility located a blocks away to work out. For a hotel claiming to be five-star it was lacking. Hotel Metropole has a beautiful setting and good location, the service and accommodations fell short of expectations for a five-star hotel. I was never asked how is your stay going? Or is there any thing we can do for you?

Metropole Hotel--Lovely

Elegant hotel right on the Grand Canal, and close to all the sights a visitor wants to see while in Venice. Easy walking distance to restaurants and meeting points for excursions.

Wonderful

I have just returned from a fabulous stay at this wonderful hotel, i was travelling with my husband for our 42nd wedding anniversary and my 70th birthday .I have visited Venice many times, approaching 40 and always stayed in the same hotel that's actually being refurbished at the moment. We love staying on the Riva schiavonni, so we for the 1st time chose the Metropole, when you've stayed in a different hotel for years its difficult to change but we needn't have worried, from the moment we checked in we were greeted by the most wonderful front desk staff nothing was too much trouble, our room was beautiful and spotlessly clean .We had breakfast included and it was amazing so much choice and the breakfast room is so beautiful and again the staff were amazing. The hotel has a wonderful bar called the oriental bar which I'd actually visited many times before over the years The location of the hotel is so close to st.marks square, rialto bridge etc and water transport . I could go on and on about this fabulous hotel but I think the best thing I can say is that im actually returning to this hotel in February 2026 ,my Daughter actually surprised me when I returned home by telling me she had already booked for me and her to stay ,so ive now found a new venetian home and can't wait to return to my favourite city.

Magical, beautifully quirky, welcoming!

We stayed for 5 nights on a mixed business and pleasure trip. For us, Hotel Metropole was the perfect location but there were so many other reasons to make this a stand-out hotel. The decor is enthralling, historic and has an intimate, cosy ambiance. There is always something of beauty or interest to look at and everywhere is very clean. Comfortable furnishings in communal areas, a beautiful garden and a great bar! Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated and with a very comfortable bed. Linens were good quality. Buffet Breakfast in a most stunning dining room was always very good and with a huge selection of fresh food. The hotel blend of tea is excellent. We had an amazing spa session on our last day, thanks to Roberta ❤️ Staff were friendly, helpful and polite at all times and a credit to the hotel. For us, a perfect 5* stay and we will definitely be returning.

Elegant

We arrived at Marco Polo Airport and were whisked away in a private water taxi to the Metropol Hotel for a night’s stay before our Italy tour began. Everything in this hotel is about luxury, comfort and elegance. The rooms were booked were not large, but beautiful. There was a little street noise, but not enough to be annoying. My only second of discomfort was when I realized I was in a very small room with a shutter on the window that could not be opened. Probably, if I had asked, someone would have figured it out for me. The comfortable bed and jet lag won out. This hotel has a beautiful lunch garden area, a bar area that is beyond elegant. The staff is incredible. Everyone spoke fluent English and supported every request. The family that owns the hotel has all sorts of collections in the halls and public areas to view. It was like being in a museum. If you want to make someone feel behind special, this is the hotel for you. More than a few steps to St. Marks, but it is walkable. Everything here is set to make your stay memorable and comfortable. Water bus stop is very close. If you want to use the spa area, book way ahead of time. The hours don’t start till after 10AM and closes at 6 PM. Not quite ideal for tourists. It looked beautiful. We were unable to get reservations.
