What a beautiful hotel, we picked this hotel as we didn’t want to be in the centre of Venice, it’s a 15 boat ride from the airport and you arrive in a stunning garden setting where we quickly realised we’d picked one of the most tranquil hotels in Venice. The staff were wonderful we couldn’t fault a thing, the breakfast was really good with loads of different options l. The hotel rooms were spacious and decorated beautifully. The main lobby is full of fresh flowers and again just very beautiful. We were also given a complementary glass tour to another island by boat which was really fun. The hotel is around a 20-30 minute walk to the Rialto bridge, but it’s a really beautiful walk, over many bridges down little side streets- every corner you turn is another photo opportunity, it’s truly magical. We’ve recommended this hotel to all our family and would definitely stay again.

A hiddden gem but still within a stroll to the main sights of Venice. And the private water taxi of the hotel was great and very reasonable vs other water taxi costs

Room very hot, staff horrible, staff lied about fixing air conditioning, had to beg for a fan just to sleep, charged us for a night that we did not stay due to a cancellation of the flight. Would never stay there again!

I stayed at the Grand Hotel Palazzo dei Dogi in July as my first stop in Venice, and it was a great experience. Upon arrival, I was impressed by the warm and professional service from the bellman and Taylan from the Front Office, who was so courteous and offered a smooth and efficient check-in. The property itself is historic, reminiscent of the wonders and charms of a small historic palace, and it features a peaceful courtyard with outdoor seating and water access at both the front for small water taxis, as well as one in the rear of the property for larger boat docking. The Grand Hotel Palazzo was previously part of the Marriott portfolio under the Autograph Collection, but it is now managed by the NH Hotel brand and is well-run. Even though the hotel is located at the far end of Venice, I found the location to be alright as it offers an enjoyable and scenic walk from the far end of the island to the center of Venice, where there are picturesque and fantastic views of many canals that are not available elsewhere, as well as historic architecture along the way to central Venice.

Our stay at NH Collection Hotel Venice Madonna del Orto was unfortunately one of the most unpleasant hotel experiences we’ve had. Noise Issues: The rooms are far from soundproof. Every footstep from the room above was so loud it penetrated through earplugs and woke us repeatedly during the night. This completely ruined our rest. Guest Behavior: We encountered large, noisy groups of guests from Israel who disturbed the peace of the hotel, particularly during loud conversations in public areas. At one point, we overheard them discussing shops they boycott because those shops had expressed opinions against Israel—an uncomfortable and divisive topic that certainly did not contribute to a relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast: Breakfast was repetitive and uninspired. An à la carte menu exists but is hidden from guests unless you specifically ask. When I ordered pancakes from it, two tiny, paper-thin slices arrived—not remotely worth it. Room Amenities: Only one small complimentary bottle of water was provided for two guests. The minibar prices were inflated, making it impractical to use. Hotel Boat Service: Reception offered a boat trip to Piazza San Marco for €8 per person but failed to mention it stops in Murano first. This meant we were stuck on the boat in the heat for 50 minutes—something we could have easily avoided by walking. The captain was unfriendly and unhelpful. Comfort: The pillows were rock-hard. When I requested an additional one, the receptionist simply said “no” without explanation. Room Service: Overpriced for the quality of food, plus an additional €14 service charge. Overall: This hotel was a complete waste of time, money, and energy. Between the poor service, lack of comfort, and misleading information, I cannot recommend.
