One of Italy’s most enchanting secrets, San Clemente Palace is a city resort located on its own island in the Venice lagoon, just 10 minutes from San Marco Square via the hotel’s complimentary boats. A tranquil sanctuary on the doorstep of Venice, San Clemente Palace Kempinski is one of Italy’s most enchanting secrets. The stately resort immerses guests in the drama, glamour, and heritage of Venice. The 900-year-old landmark property is comprised of a series of beautifully restored monastery buildings, as well as a 12th-century chapel, and nearly 15 acres of ancient gardens, courtyards, and terraces boasting breath-taking views of the city on the horizon. San Clemente Palace Kempinski has 29 special and 37 junior suites, and 130 luxury rooms in which Venetian decorations blend with legacy design elements, while typical high Venetian ceilings create a sense of home. San Clemente Suite is selected as the “Europe's Leading Hotel Suite” in 2018. The hotel features three bars and three special restaurants, including a signature restaurant with terraces overlooking the lagoon. Indulge in the restaurants Acquerello and Insieme, offering exceptional interpretations of iconic Italian and Venetian specialties whereas Buddha-Bar Beach Restaurant & Pool Bar features a unique culinary experience that combines the signature dishes of the famous neo-Asian Buddha-Bar with unique local Italian and Mediterranean dishes and flavors.

We booked in October 2024 for a 40th birthday in April 2025. We were Emailed in March 2025 to say that they could not accommodate us on the last night. We were told that they would not reimburse us to change any flights. We emailed asking for a reason why they could not accommodate us, and why it was so close to our holiday and were given no reason other than it was a booking issue. We have sent 3 Emails and still have never been told why. Only writing this review because I don’t want this to happen to anyone else. It’s been a nightmare, we have had to change hotels last minute with a lot of stress. I am only writing this review because I don’t want anyone else to go through this.

One of the most stunning hotels we’ve ever been to. Located on its own island, San Clemente emulates beauty in every detail. The exterior, interior hallways, spacious room, beautiful garden and local birds, and pool area. The food was incredibly delicious and the staff were very friendly. Easy access to the heart of Venice through complimentary boat from the hotel. Loved it here and can’t wait to come back!

We were very excited to stay at this marvelous hotel. The rooms are exquisite, the amenities, outstanding, and there is a palpable sense of history here. Where our stay went awry was when we ate at their fine dining restaurant. Service, while gracious, was terribly inconsistent. We waited nearly half an hour for our cocktails, after which the wait staff told us we would need to begin our four course prefix dinner. This was not an inexpensive repast, so we expected careful announcements of each course and good pacing. Our wine arrived late, and pourings were skimpy. Other patrons who had arrived after us were served their drinks and dinners before us. There was an air of fatigue amongst the wait staff. We were eating outside and as the sun went down, the mosquitoes came up, so when we asked for our bill and it took nearly 30 minutes, we had some unfortunate souvenirs of our dinner. This is so sad, because the rest of this hotel is so outstanding. We’ll chalk it up to a bad night, and perhaps understaffing.

We visited Kempinski Venice as a couple in April 2025, and it turned out to be so much more than just a getaway – it was the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. We got engaged during our stay, and the entire team made this moment truly unforgettable. A special thank you goes to the front desk team and the concierge, who supported me in planning and making the proposal come to life. The Food & Beverage team as well as Guest Relations also played a big part in making us feel completely at home. You could genuinely feel that everyone at the hotel is passionate about delivering exceptional service. It would be impossible to name every staff member who contributed to this experience – simply because every single one of them was outstanding. One thing is certain: if you’re looking for a hotel in Venice with heart, professionalism, and a true sense for special moments, Kempinski is the place to be. Wholeheartedly recommended.

An incredibly beautiful and peaceful place with a very good hotel in the hustle and bustle of Venice. The rooms are wonderful, large, spacious and clean and have everything you need for a wonderful stay. You can spend a few days there without leaving the island.
