One of Italy’s most enchanting secrets, San Clemente Palace is a city resort located on its own island in the Venice lagoon, just 10 minutes from San Marco Square via the hotel’s complimentary boats. A tranquil sanctuary on the doorstep of Venice, San Clemente Palace is one of Italy’s most enchanting secrets. The stately resort immerses guests in the drama, glamour, and heritage of Venice. The 900-year-old landmark property is comprised of a series of beautifully restored monastery buildings, as well as a 12th-century chapel, and nearly 15 acres of ancient gardens, courtyards, and terraces boasting breath-taking views of the city on the horizon.
San Clemente Palace has 170 luxury rooms & suites in which Venetian decorations blend with legacy design elements, while typical high Venetian ceilings create a sense of home. The hotel features three bars and three special restaurants, including a signature restaurant with terraces overlooking the lagoon. Indulge in the restaurants Acquerello and Insieme, offering exceptional interpretations of iconic Italian and Venetian specialties whereas La Dolce Brasserie Restaurant & Pool Bar features a unique culinary experience that combines the signature dishes of unique local Italian and Mediterranean dishes and flavors.

I am currently staying at the San Clemente Palace and I commend the hotel for its fantastic location, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful rooms and attentive staff. However I am writing because I want to highlight the appalling service from the pool bar in the hope that something will be done urgently to rectify the major criticism of an otherwise excellent experience. In a matter of only 4 days, there have been numerous instances of delays, being ignored at a table, being told they're too busy despite there being few customers, etc., etc. Goodness knows how they will cope in high season. The hotel needs to urgently review the management and staffing of the pool bar which is a major attraction for this hotel. If they fail they will receive complaints that are far more severe than this.

What an amazing place. Genuinely exceptional in every respect. The hotel itself is one of the most beautiful I think I’ve ever stayed in, and it’s genuinely special. Whilst there were a few niggles with the service, what really impressed me was the fact that they tried really hard to sort things out for us. So overall, a fantastic place and somewhere I really enjoyed.

We visited this hotel for the time May 2026. The location of the hotel is on a very secluded island . The hotel use to be a sanctuary for Monks . It is very beautiful and lots of Art. The rooms are very spacious and decorated nicely. The service is exceptional! I only had two issues the air conditioning was not good but they brought me two fans that helped . The food for lunch was not good but they remade it . Other than that I would have given it a 10. The hotel was very clean . Smelled wonderful

A really nice hotel in a quiet location - 15 minutes by frequent boat shuttle from St Marks As noted in other reviews it’s a big property with large rooms on a private island - feels like a calm cocoon compared to the chaos and crowds of Venice. The boat shuttle (every 30 minutes) runs perfectly to time and is a great way to approach the centre of the city. Easily (if expensively) accessed from the airport - 180 euro for a private water taxi which is a 30 minute journey. Marked as 4 rather than 5 due to small touches which I wouldn’t have expected in a hotel of this grading - unable to get drinks at the pool post 4pm on a hot Saturday afternoon - waited over 20 minutes after ordering drinks in the cocktail bar - at this point we gave up and walked out - powdered milk in the rooms to have with the nespresso - really this feels more like a premier inn - breakfast exclusively a buffet - no omelette or plated egg options available

We stayed at San Clemente Palace for three nights October 2,3, and 4 in 2025. We were with Viking’s pre-cruise extension in Venice. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. A most interesting island setting, full of charm. Gracious and attentive staff. A very comfortable room with an unforgettable view across the lagoon. Breakfasts were sumptuous. Our compliments to the baker for his or her wonderful bread. One of the guest services staff (Elena, I think) went out of her way to compile and print out some of the historical information on the island and specifically the church and the history surrounding the former monastery on the island.
