One of Italy’s most enchanting secrets, San Clemente Palace is a city resort located on its own island in the Venice lagoon, just 10 minutes from San Marco Square via the hotel’s complimentary boats. A tranquil sanctuary on the doorstep of Venice, San Clemente Palace is one of Italy’s most enchanting secrets. The stately resort immerses guests in the drama, glamour, and heritage of Venice. The 900-year-old landmark property is comprised of a series of beautifully restored monastery buildings, as well as a 12th-century chapel, and nearly 15 acres of ancient gardens, courtyards, and terraces boasting breath-taking views of the city on the horizon.
San Clemente Palace has 170 luxury rooms & suites in which Venetian decorations blend with legacy design elements, while typical high Venetian ceilings create a sense of home. The hotel features three bars and three special restaurants, including a signature restaurant with terraces overlooking the lagoon. Indulge in the restaurants Acquerello and Insieme, offering exceptional interpretations of iconic Italian and Venetian specialties whereas La Dolce Brasserie Restaurant & Pool Bar features a unique culinary experience that combines the signature dishes of unique local Italian and Mediterranean dishes and flavors.

Absolutely outstanding! From the large, spotless and tastefully furnished rooms and high ceilings, to the huge pool and gardens - and especially the unfailingly attentive and friendly staff. Beautiful and to the highest standards in every respect, yet feels amazingly informal and unstuffy. All at 10 mins by complementary wooden motor boat from San Marco. Without doubt of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had, and the ideal way to enjoy everything Venice has to offer.

A truly memorable Venetian stay, made exceptional by the people I had stayed a couple of times in Venice before but my stay here truely gave me a different perspective on Venice I spent six nights at San Clemente Palace during Festa del Redentore, and the hotel became an important part of my Venice experience rather than simply somewhere to sleep. The private island setting is remarkable: peaceful grounds, beautiful lagoon views and a wonderful pool, while the regular boat service makes San Marco easy to reach. Some of my favourite memories from the entire trip were actually those crossings heading into Venice in the morning and returning across the lagoon in the evening. After long, hot days exploring the city, coming back to the quiet of San Clemente felt incredibly special. I am also very glad I made time to enjoy the hotel itself. The pool was a perfect retreat, and my final lagoon side dinner was a beautiful way to end the trip, with excellent food, golden evening light and wonderfully attentive service. Food and drinks are certainly priced at luxury hotel levels, so guests should arrive expecting that. What truly distinguished this stay, however, was the staff. Dilara from Guest Relations deserves a very special mention. She was warm, attentive and genuinely thoughtful throughout my visit. She always was present when I needed something and on my final day, I returned to find a handwritten farewell note. It was an unexpectedly personal gesture that went far beyond ordinary hotel service. She made me feel welcomed and seen as an individual, and that kind of hospitality stays with you long after checking out. Menelaus at the bar also brought genuine warmth and personality to every interaction. Checkout and the arrangement of my airport water taxi were handled smoothly as well. I arrived expecting a beautiful private island hotel. I left remembering not only the setting, but the people who made it feel so personal. I would happily return.

We stayed here in June 2026 with our three kids (ages 10, 8 and 6) and had a wonderful experience. The staff was so kind and helpful with dinner reservations and recommendations for the area. Our kids loved the pool and the freedom to roam freely, with Venice a close and convenient boat ride away. The rooms were spacious and we loved the large bathrooms after staying down on the Amalfi Coast where quarters were a bit tighter!

This is a really great property but one experience made it a total deal breaker. The hotel took a deposit when we checked in (around $4k) and when we checked out said they would charge us for the incidentals. So another $1k. I was actually charged another $5k. Mistakes happen. So I contacted the hotel. No response. I sent emails. No response. I called again and again each time assured they would get back to me. No response. Eventually after a week of doing this I had to contact my card issuer to try and resolve this for me. In the meantime I had to pay my card company an extra 4k and I've got all this additional admin to deal with, which of course makes me wish I chose a different hotel.
