On one side the placid waters of the lagoon, and on the other the mysterious alleyways of Venice, leading to two of the city’s most stunning modern museums, the Peggy Guggenheim and the new Punta della Dogana. A period palace with an elaborate Gothic façade, but when you step inside you find yourself projected into a future in which each item of the decor has been designed exclusively for your pleasure.

I first discovered this place in a semi-desperate attempt to escape the stifling overcrowded madness that is Venice in high summer. The courtyard and lobby looked peaceful and cool. My friend and I turned in and found seats on the delicious canal side terrace where the bar staff restored us with tall, cool G&Ts and delicious snacks. While I do’t think I’ll ever go back to Venice in summer, I wanted to see if it’s true what they say about its magical charms in winter. And I had such a fond memory of this hotel for reviving me that summer day that I biked in for two nights in late February. I was not disappointed. The entire staff was so lovely throughout my stay. My room on the fifth floor was very private, cozy and special. Linens were luscious. Breakfast and bar just perfect. And the adjacent vaporetto stop (La Salute) made it so easy to get everywhere in the city, even when I had reached my limit of walking and wandering. I will definitely come back in the winter.

Close to the Guggenheim Museum is the awesome Sina Centurion Palace Hotel. Excellent service and delicious pasta and seafood with maybe a little grappa thrown in. Beautiful setting for a superb meal.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at Sina Centurion Palace. We had one room for our two adult children and another for my husband and I. The service was all around excellent. The building, obviously older and charming, was impeccably clean and modern in style and technology. My husband and I had a corner suite with a canal view on two sides, including the beautiful church off to our right. The ceiling was basically double story high, or at least 1.5 x height, and was a gorgeous antique wood design clearly from centuries ago. It was a stunning room. Our adult children's room was a bit small, but still had a view of the grand canal, which opens up a great feeling of space. The bathrooms were lovely. We arrived right at the front door of the hotel on the grand canal by water taxi. Going out the back door on foot led us to all of the alleyways and narrow streets with shops, bars and restaurants, and a major bridge that took us to a neighboring principal island. It was pretty close to the airport. Breakfast was included. We would definitely stay there again.

We love this hotel and been staying here 6 times. The staff are excellent. We were upgraded on arrival for one night only and because we had a problem with the room, we were demoted which was sad considering the hotel wasn’t full at all. Also housekeeping completely forgot to leave us towels one day. Breakfast at the hotel is excellent and the staff very friendly. We had drinks in the bar almost every evening, again great service. When we checked out a discretionary service charge was added and although we were told we could refuse, we didn’t as we felt embarrassed with everyone around us. But, we had tipped cash in the bar and restaurant and concierge and felt this was a badly thought out method of getting more cash off clients. You should be asked whether you’d like to add service and we would have said that we had already paid in cash! Don’t add it to the bill. We left very embarrassed and disappointed. It hasn’t happened before during our stays. Badly done Sina Centurian!

This hotel is stunningly beautiful and has a great location - very central, but still quite tranquil. I loved the art on display everywhere, and the food was delicious.
