About the Hotel

Floating gondolas, the chime of ancient church bells, and romantic piazzas make Venice such a treasured Italian destination. Splendid Venice, part of Preferred Hotels & Resorts and a member of the Preferred Hotel Group, was built during the 16th century. Located between St. Mark's Square and the landmark Rialto Bridge, this historic hideaway features 165 guestrooms. The hotel has been completely refurbished, maintaining a traditional Venetian presence coupled with contemporary appointments. Walls are cloaked in pearl gray with hand-painted wisteria accents. Lush velvets and cool silk textiles, which cover headboards and furnishings, add a most luxurious touch. The hotel's private docks jut out into the canals, allowing guests to disembark from gondolas and water taxis with ease.

A most lovely hotel - the beautiful furnishings and decor enhance the feeling of style in this hotel. The location is perfect, being a short walk from the main sights and close to lots of amazing restaurants. Surprisingly quiet given its city location.

Lovely hotel near Rialto with delightful staff and morning breakfast!

Fabulous location, (just a couple walking blocks from the Rialto) professional and delightful staff! We traveled with our teenage granddaughter and we had the loveliest room with a view of a canal along with an additional bed in the main area. Breakfast buffet served in beautiful room. As it was a birthday trip for our granddaughter, a beautiful note and a few goodies were awaiting her. So thoughtful! Also loved that the staff ordered a vaporetto to the train station from their own loading area. Would recommend in a heartbeat and will definitely stay again!

Good location

Location is very good close to most places you need to see. Rooms very small views not the best. Ihave never been asked for a tip on checking out before , I tipped direct to staff concierge etc direct when needed. I work in tourism in UK and know Italian visitors dont tip in the UK.

This Hotel is Indeed Splendid

The location of this hotel is excellent. It is a short walking ditance to most of the major tourist sites, equidistant between Plaza San Marcos and the Rialto, for instance. We had a family room with a double bed and a chaise style single bed. Both were quite comfortable. I was surprised at how large the room was. It also had a seating area and a work station. The hotel is impeccably clean. The free breakfast, if you choose it, is more than adequate. We did not have much of a view as we were on a low floor, but the room was surprisingly quiet. The hotel also has a canal entrance that allows the water taxis to drop you off right at your hotel. The only down side is that it had a night light, which I despise (and I still give it the hotel a 5). As this one was located low on the wall, it was easy to fully cover. The service and staff were great. My travel agent must have told them it was my wife's birthday, and when we returned from Rialto there was a nice birthday letter as well as a delicious chocolate cake. While some might say the decor is dated, I found it to be charming as you have the feel that you are truly in another country.

Excellent choice in the heart of Venice

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Excellent full service hotel, the helpful concierge and front desk staff alone earn it five stars. Well appointed rooms, spacious, and surprisingly quiet given the central location. In our double deluxe room was a large double bed, and a hallway with a desk to separate the bathroom. Our room had a partial canal view, that was not at all smelly. The hotel and rooms are modern and classy - though the decor is a bit dated, everything is functional (including the quintessential bidet!). If you are light sensitive, just bear in mind it may not be completely dark due to a night light in the hallway that I could never turn off? We enjoyed the in-room coffee machine, breakfast (included in our rate) in the light-filled ground floor restaurant, and drinks in the lounge overlooking the canal. Took me a while to discover the 5th-floor rooftop deck (hint: use the rear bank of lifts). We also appreciated the nightly turndown service, and fresh towels / bottled water daily. Overall, a convenient choice for tourists exploring Venice for the first time.
