First for the positives - the hotel is in a great location and perfect for tourists. The rooms are spacious and furnished in old world charm. The meal at Fathom was lovely. The temp control of the room was good. Now for the negatives - Noisy room. I checked into a room initially - 1043 - which is the top floor - but after about 2 hrs and enduring banging and scraping in the ceiling asked for a room change. It was assumed this was lift noise as 3 rooms from the lifts. I was moved almost directly across the corridor to 1036. Exactly the same issue. Banging and knocking constantly in the ceiling space, with the constant sound of the lift all day - it certainly settles somewhat during the night but when it’s in use, you can clearly hear it. Far from relaxing and enough to keep me awake during the night. There was no water provided in the rooms other than tap water which I was told was fine to use. There were also no bathroom amenities, but some were provided on request. We were told that if we skipped housekeeping, that 2 trees would be planted in lieu for each day. As we were here for 3 nights, we opted for housekeeping. Check in is 4pm and we were unable to check in before this time. Would I stay here again? Maybe, if I could be placed somewhere well away from the lifts.

I could not understand some of the negative reviews for this hotel. We found this hotel charming and unique with a wonderful competent staff. Extremely clean and spacious. We had a corner room at the back that was a handicapped room and it was the best handicapped room we have ever stayed in. Very Quiet. The shower set up was a masterfull design. The pool was perfection plus and the elevator went right to the pool so you didn't have to walk thr the lobby as you do in some hotels. Sitting on the balcony was a special treat. Lovely patio, restaurant and lounge area with live music. All six items on their happy hour menu were a taste sensation. Beautiful visuals. A small minor point would be that 5 of the 6 appetizer bites were too small. I would have prefered that they charge more but make them slightly bigger. Sitting in their patio and watching the world go by. Doesn't get any better than that.

On arrival you were greeted with a luxury style hotel lobby and lounge bar. The reception staff were very friendly and polite as were all staff. The room as mentioned on other posts is a little dated and quite dark. However, was spacious and clean. The location is excellent for visiting Victoria. We used the patio for afternoon drinks in happy hour and would like to mention Ryan and Reid who were super friendly and gave great service and recommendations. Our stay was comfortable and would return if I come back to Victoria.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Grand Pacific while my husband was in Victoria competing in the Ironman. Given the nature of the trip, getting a good night’s sleep and being comfortable in the room was extremely important to us. Unfortunately, the air conditioning in our room did not work properly during our stay. We reported the issue to the front desk and were told a technician would come take a look at it. However, when we returned to the room later, nothing had changed and the room was still uncomfortably warm. We ended up having to keep the patio door open just to get some airflow. We brought the issue up again at checkout, hoping there would at least be some acknowledgment or effort to make things right, but the response was basically just “sorry to hear that.” There was no compensation, follow-up, or real concern shown, which was disappointing considering the cost of the stay. The hotel itself also felt quite outdated. The decor throughout the property was very dark and dated, and overall it did not feel like the experience matched the price point we paid. That said, there were a few positives. The location is excellent and very convenient for exploring Victoria, and the food at Fathom restaurant was genuinely great. One other thing worth noting is parking costs. Self-parking is $28/day, while valet parking is $35/day. Overall, while the location and restaurant were highlights, the lack of responsiveness regarding the air conditioning issue and the dated feel of the hotel made the stay feel overpriced and not worth the money.

Fantastic staff, great location - what more could you ask for?! The kids loved the cookies and milk they got room serviced in the evenings.
