Reviews for Magnolia Hotel & Spa

A stellar experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Amazing! The hotel and rooms are wonderful. Beds are comfortable and rooms quiet. The location was perfect for us - great things to see and do within walking distance and there were wide ranging types/styles of restaurants to choose from. Of special note is that the staff just make the place! Thank you, Johnny (server) and Jack (sommelier), you absolutely made our evening on Saturday May 9th in The Courtney dining room; engaging, energetic, and knowledgeable. Their help in choosing dishes and accompanying wines was awesome. Duncan, thank you for your recommendations for our outing to China Beach – you were so right about Shirley Delicious! Owen, thank you for the routinely prompt delivery of our car. Housekeeping staff took stellar care of our room. And surprise treats; when we got back from our outings on Friday May 8th, we were offered a complimentary glass of sparkling wine! We asked 'what's the occasion?' "Just appreciating our guests" was the response. We hope to go back again.

Highly recommend. Can’t wait to come back

My husband and I stayed here for three nights Our first trip from Alberta to the island and it was the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at. Although we had a couple small glitches with our AC the hotel and staff ensured we were well taken care of. They were professional , timely service and the hotel is immaculately clean! The staff go above and beyond to ensure the best stay. I wouldnt stay anywhere else now. You’re two min walk to everything. Leg ground empress hotel restaurants and a quick 10 min walk to fisherman’s wharf. Cannot wait to return.

The best of independent boutique hotel experiences

I have been fortunate enough to travel to Victoria seven times since September 2025 (and many more times over the past five years). I stay at the Magnolia every single time, and am always completely satisfied with my stay. The staff and management at the Magnolia represent the best of boutique hotels: competent, flexible and genuinely friendly service. The communication is spectacular. Unlike large chain hotels, with the Magnolia I can quickly speak to a real person by email or telephone. At the Magnolia, they remember your name (sometimes it feels like an old episode of Cheers ... I love that). Manager Savannah arranged for a lovely flower bouquet for my daughter upon learning that she was graduating from UVic. It was so thoughtful and we were very touched. From assistant managers Alphonso and Ben to valets Natalie and Michael everyone really does their best to make my stay comfortable and memorable. The lobby is small but perfectly calm, with an urn of complementary cool drinks in summer or cider in winter, a Nespresso machine and real paper newspapers. The rooms are very quiet. I have terrible insomnia but I have never once been awoken from internal or external noise here. The surrounding streets are quiet and safe. I am a small female and always feel secure walking to and from the hotel by myself in the dark. The bathrooms have the most glorious Salt Spring Soap rhubarb bubble bath and under counter low automatic lighting so you needn't turn on the overhead light in the middle of the night. The hotel has a variety of Offers/Rates that make this hotel a more affordable choice for some who might feel it is outside of their budget, especially during shoulder seasons.

Loved this hotel!

Recently stay here for two nights and absolutely loved this hotel. Check-in was quick, valet parking was excellent, and we were easily able to walk the area without issue. This hotel is beautiful and our double queen room was fabulous with great amenities. We had a family meet-up in the lounge of the hotel one afternoon, enjoying drinks for hours and was treated special. Breakfast was very good as well.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Victoria

This hotel is in the perfect location and walkable to everything in the downtown area. I also enjoy the top notch service from all the staff and the Courtney Room for meals. I would highly recommend this boutique hotel. One of the nicest in Victoria.
