I’m currently staying at this hotel with my family — 2 adults and 1 minor. Obviously, they charge for the child’s stay, but their “solution” is for her to sleep on the floor like a dog… unless you pay €93 per night for a flimsy rollaway bed! This is pure abuse. It’s not about the money for me — it’s about principle and respect for guests. If you charge for a third person, you should provide a proper sleeping arrangement without ridiculous surcharges. Tip for travelers: Always ask in advance what the actual sleeping setup will be for additional guests. Don’t assume “triple occupancy” means a real bed.

This hotel has a great location, and very good service, but its decor (apart from the room-level hallways) was a very big letdown. The bottom line is that this hotel is tired, and desperately needs a soft renovation. The furniture in the lobby is frankly gross. It looks like old living room furniture that has not been reupholstered (or cleaned) since the hotel was renovated 30 years ago. It’s not classic or antique, it is just thrift-storey. If the owners put some money into this place it could be competitive with other hotels in its supposed class, but the bottom line is that this hotel has to be one of, if not the least inspiring “5 star” hotel in Vienna. This is really an aging 4 star — in any market. All one has to do is cross the street and take a peek at the Imperial or the Amauris, or go around the corner to the Sacher to see that the Grand Hotel Wien is simply not playing in their league. I strongly suspect that (1) this hotel’s bread and butter is catering to river cruise passengers (whose check-in desks are prominently placed in the lobby), and (2) those cruise guests have written favorable reviews here simply because they’re psyched to be on land and out of a tiny cabin. With all this said, I will again say I thought the service was very good, as was the location.

We loved this gorgeous luxury hotel near many of Vienna's top attractions. Our quiet room, with its large widows, was lovely, with excellent amenities, storage and a great bed. The breakfast was one of the best we've ever enjoyed at any hotel, with many made-to-order hot dishes in addition to the buffet. The breakfast staff went the extra mile in service, and the room service also was first-rate, as was the service from one of the women at reception. The hotel's impressive history is matched by its impressive ambiance. We wish our relaxing two-night stay had been even longer.

#GrandHotelWien Montego By one of the worst experiences of all my travels. First of all, I received an email about the room costing $187. Instead, they charged $250 per person for four nights. $1,000 + $100 deposit that still hasn't been refunded. The room is very damp, the sheets are wet, and there were ants in the room. The air conditioning may have been broken, and I even got sick. Breakfast was very little and cold! The coffee was terrible, the restaurant room. The food never arrived from the day of departure. They were thrown out like criminals! Now I'm reporting them through my lawyer. They stole my glasses. #GrandHotelWien

Stayed in early June for a couple of nights. We decided to upgrade to a suite with a terrace as it was nearing the end of our vacation. Needless to say, it was a grand room, though the terrace was disappointing with head high walls and no views. Breakfast was good with a lot of options in the buffet as well as many options to order. Service was attentive, friendly and efficient. Special mention to the concierge who not only managed to snatch last minute tickets to Vienna-Philharmonic but also recommended great places for dinner and shopping for coffee. They have a complimentary spa area with sauna, steam, refreshing cold showers and you can also book massages. Must try! We tried their rooftop restaurant but they were doing some experimental cuisine which I would rate 3.5 out of 5.
