Determination to help guests in Vienna

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 18 hours ago

My son and his partner very kindly treated me to a fabulous city-break at the Hilton Hotel in the centre of Vienna on 5-6 December 2025. The aim of our trip was, besides spending a couple of days together, was to enjoy some of the wonderful Christmas markets in the Austrian capital, as well as visit its stunning Art History Museum housed in the Belvedere Palace. While we were at the Hilton Hotel (a convenient two minutes’ walk from the main railway station) we wanted to make a last minute reservation at a restaurant for our last evening in the city. Nothing was to be found, but a very helpful member of the hotel reception staff, called Arina, spent over half an hour trying to find us a table. Exemplying the highest standards of professionalism and helpfulness, Arina demonstrated a dogged (and much appreciated) determination to help us. In the event, we ended up enjoying a meal in the Hilton Hotel’s own restaurant, but Arina’s refusal to give us really made an impression on my son and I. The Hilton Hotel is very fortunate to have people like Arina on their staff. We commend the hotel in its choice of reception personnel.

Could so easily be so much better

Came here as diamond members with additional rooms booked for family. Most European hotels will provide free breakfast to additional rooms but not this one. Which is fine, it’s the luck of the draw I guess but they are very matter-of-fact about it and lacking a customer service vibe which is never easy after long travel hours. Especially as they honored it in the past. The rooms are still great but the amenities are often hired out to local businesses for Christmas parties so you’ll go to the bar for a drink and find it overrun with parties. A bit strange for us as most hotels back home have rooms to hire for that kind of thing and it seems a very money-first mentality that puts guests experience second to revenue in the most-visited guest areas. Nothing too bad about that I guess but overall you’re left with no real complaints, but nothing at all special or memorable about the hotel. And when you’re visiting for a Christmas market trip you want the hotel to be memorable also. The Christmas decorations are also quite sparse and that’s a shame as the lobby could be quite spectacular if they put a little effort in. We did note the manager talking to some people - primarily the visiting parties from local businesses - and he seemed nice and jovial but we can’t say the same about the rest of the staff. Very one-dimensional apart from Reddy in the lobby playing a sort of concierge role - great character and very friendly chap.

Disgusting stay

Let me share what I experienced in this hotel on Friday 5th respectively and potential victims will evaluate to stay here or not. First problem was elevators. And at least 4-6 hours elevators was off due to technical problems. The reception mentioned that this situation is an electricity problem of whole Vienna which was totally lie. Anyway, it happened but another problem is I had to use dark stairs 2 times to go my room at 9th floor. Ok it is also not issue let’s say it, I ordered soup bouillon and cheese plate directly at Restorant ( name is ‘Restorant’ actually service was catastrophe) and they informed me that they would send to room, ok. After 1 hour they didn’t bring soup and cheese plate and I called room service. As you can imagine that they didn’t interested in the problem. I directly went to Restorant of hotel and a lady who says she is supervisor ( I am still laughing) that somehow there was a misunderstanding. Misunderstanding??? You didn’t bring me pizza instead of soup, I said. Ok, I decided to talk with front desk and Gard really tried to solve problems but I decided to eat a sandwich and do my work in my room. I tried to purchase a sandwich and cola from vendor machine but? Of course their system was not working…

Perfect. Stunning hotel with amazing staff & facilities in a wonderful location

From check-in with the most delightful young man, Gard, to check-out, our stay was perfect. The rooms were spacious, spotless, warm, well appointed and the beds so comfortable. The bathroom had both a bath & separate shower with 2 sinks. Beautiful. The location is also wonderful, with a very short walk to attractions. Taxis are found at the rank bang outside if you need them which is helpful. The bar (Denis was great too) has gorgeous food and even better cake and cocktails. The cocktail "Fall in Love" is delicious (Prosecco & Cognac) but be careful, it's absolutely lethal. Thank you to the team for a perfect stay to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Amazing. Thanks for beautiful Christmas decorations too.
