The Sacher Wien certainly lives up to its reputation as one of the world's finest hotels. Accommodations were beautiful. Service was amazing. Breakfasts were the perfect way to start the day --- Lucia was always so helpful and had a terrific smile. Location is ideal. As I said after my stay last year, I want to go back to Vienna just to stay at this hotel.

After the Vienna State Opera was completed, the old theatre was demolished, and Eduard Sacher acquired the land to build his hotel. Major cultural landmarks including the Albertina Museum, the Hofburg Palace are all within easy walking distance. Boasting an illustrious heritage, the hotel ranks 49th on the World’s 50 Best Hotels list. Behind the reception lies a photo gallery, a hall of fame featuring portraits of nobles, celebrities, statesmen and artists, chronicling the hotel’s glorious history across two centuries. The hotel underwent its first major renovation starting in 2004, led by renowned French designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. The project lasted eight years, and the hotel reopened to guests in 2012. Its exclusive noble floor was fully refurbished in 2017. Today, it offers 152 guest rooms and suites, with the smallest room covering 27 square metres. Every interior detail is personally curated by the hotel’s family owners. All suites are named after operas, and the hallways are adorned with 19th-century Chinoiserie wallpaper popular among European high society at the time. The Deluxe Room with View features a soft Tiffany blue palette. Damask wallpaper, velvet curtains, walnut furniture and brass lighting blend gracefully, creating a perfect fusion of gentle elegance and classic luxury. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame unbeatable views of the opera house, requiring no filters at all. Welcome amenities include champagne and miniature Sacher cakes, while all non-alcoholic drinks in the in-room minibar are replenished free of charge daily. The bathroom is thoughtfully appointed with bespoke toiletries. A powerful rainfall shower effortlessly washes away travel fatigue. The attentive turndown service even embroiders guests’ names on pillowcases, delivering a uniquely personal touch of romance. The original Sacher-Torte is another world-famous highlight. Crafted following a centuries-old secret recipe by hand, it draws endless queues outside Café Sacher. Fortunately for hotel guests, this iconic treat is served directly to rooms and breakfast tables. Three private bars inside the hotel also serve authentic Sacher-Torte. Breakfast is presented in a classic European semi-buffet style, featuring a wide selection of traditional Austrian pastries, sparkling wine, cold cuts and freshly baked bread. Made-to-order hot dishes such as caviar scrambled eggs and truffle ham eggs elevate the luxury dining experience to new heights. Went there for a lunch, service was fast and friendy, food was good.

Initially booked at Hotel Imperial but checked out after 4 hours due to no hot water. Checked into Hotel Sacher and was DELIGHTED we did! Superb staff...the amazing Blue Bar....preferred seated at the cafe (a real perk due to the popularity of the Sacher Torte lines)....super clean and well appointed room...comfortable bed...and an unbeatable location. One of the best hotel experiences my wife and I have had. We put this up there with Le Meurice in Paris and Claridges in London...but with BETTER staff!
