The hotel has beautiful grounds and a lovely beach, making it a great place to relax. As with most places in Cuba, don’t expect too much from the buffet. There’s always plenty of fresh fruit available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A good tip is to bring your own condiments, and you’ll be fine. The snack bar serves tasty hot dogs, burgers, and pizzas, which are definitely a highlight. You won’t go hungry here, but the food selection can get a little repetitive.

The beach was breathtaking. The rest was not.

The beach was breathtaking. The rest was not. The food was barely edible when you could chew it. The bottles of water and even the "fresh" towels were rationed... The Cuban people though get 5 stars. A very resilient, hard working and proud lot of "slaves " that were braving electricity shortages (20 hours out of 24 outside the resort that had generators...). They can't escape. WE DID: left a week early to home sweet home.

Extremely Disappointing Stay – Not Worth the Hype This was my fifth time vacationing in Cuba, and sadly, my worst experience yet – especially at a place that claims to be a 5-star resort. The food situation at Melia Las Dunas was chaotic. The buffet was overcrowded, with large groups of locals who showed no respect for lines or other guests. Many would pile excessive amounts of food on their plates without any consideration for others. There were approximately 500 people in the buffet area, and only one meat, pasta, and toast station – meaning guests had to wait 30 minutes or more just to be served. The beach was another disappointment. It was incredibly difficult to find a lounger, as most were either occupied or "reserved" with towels, even if no one was using them. I absolutely do not recommend this resort. Don’t be fooled by misleading reviews that portray it as a 5-star experience. It’s nowhere near that standard.

Honestly it was a beautiful location. I went with a friend and we had spend most of our days well. There was a decent amount of walking to be noted. The entertainment in the evening was honestly really cool, the dancers were very talented:) we looked forward to it every night. The food was good for Cuba. The workers were suupppeeerrr kind and one of them made us a hat! Also our servers at the buffet did so much to make sure everything was good. In the end, a trip experience is about the people you are surrounded by, and I found everyone to be very kind and fun. Beach was perfect, we got our hair braided at the spa and we loved it! Room was alright but no complaints in general. Very relaxing..I would go back:)

Good hotel on the beautiful beach

The beach is great, the food is good. Evening entertainment is excellent. The hotel is clean, the rooms are good, the QAC works well, the beds are comfortable and there is always water. The washrooms could be maintained better. The internet is very poor. This hotel is among the best hotels in Cayo Santa Maria. This was my third visit. The 24 hour restaurant does not serve food at all hours. That should be changed.
