Reviews for Hotel Le Germain Quebec

Great stay at the Le Germain. Very friendly staff.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Le Germain had a great atmosphere and location. It was walking distance to almost everything we wanted to see in Quebec. The check-in was easy, and the staff friendly and accommodating . The room was large and comfortable, clean, and had a Nespresso machine to feed my caffeine needs. (Also there was a great coffee machine that made almost any barista creation needed in the lobby). Noise was not an issue. We had taken an uber from the airport, but noted good parking behind the hotel with charging stations for electric vehicles. Bathroom amenities were great, and thoughtful. They were kind enough to extend a late checkout to us, even though we had booked thru a 3rd party. (To be honest, we had tried to book on their website, but our second nite was not available--whereas on the 3rd party site it was.....weird). I would stay again in a heart beat. While here, we did tour the "big hotel" on the hill. Much louder and with a crowded lobby..... we definitely made the right choice. Turn down service with a bucket of ice and chocolates was the icing on the cake. Thank you Le Germain!

Superb hotel

Everything was superb . From the greeting , the easy car parking at rear and the lovely lounge with all day real coffee. The room was well appointed , had a nespresso machine and big comfy bed. The location was excellent with good access to attractions and dining . Finally excellent staff.

Poor air conditioning

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Our first criteria in evaluating a hotel room is a well functioning powerful AC. We were very disappointed at this hotel. Apparently this is a well known issue by management that has not been fixed for some reason. At almost $600 a night this definitely does not come anywhere near meeting expectations. Fortunately our stay was for only one night but they will not see us here anytime soon. Fortunately our stay the price you can do much better.

A Happily Resolved Problem

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

What started as a problematic stay due to a lack of Air conditioning /good ventilation in our room turned into a delightful one after some intervention by the hotel 's staff My original booking ( 4 nights, "Classic" , upper floor requested) was placed in June . Upon arrival we were assigned a 1st floor room and informed about the ongoing air "situation" in the wing within which our room was located. While it was comfortable outside , our room thermostat showed 24C ( 76F) with no chance of nighttime decline due to windows shut tight and locked (key unavailable) . I discussed with staff , who brought a tower fan (somewhat helpful) and assured things would look different the next day Our 2nd day I checked with staff in the am prior to leaving. Assured things would look better upon our return in the late pm . Upon returning , it was suggested we view a room on a high floor , which would at least be some improvement over our parking lot view . Being in the same wing, it had the same air con issue Fortunately, things were happily resolved within the hour -- we were upgraded to a "prestige" room located in the hotel's other wing . 20C for the Win ! Apart from the above issue, I found the hotel to be incredibly charming -- the lobby , seating areas and well appointed room . We had a very enjoyable balance of our stay (3 nights) and are thankful the staff was able to come thru in a pinch
