Les Sources de Caudalie, located among the vineyards of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, a Graves great growth, was established in 1999. The concept behind Les Sources de Caudalie is inspired by the "French Paradox", discovered over 20 years ago. It refers to a study proving that the French diet and lifestyle, particularly in Southwest France, is conducive to good health. Between vineyards and forests, at only 20 minutes from Bordeaux center, the architect Yves Collet created from scratch contemporary buildings from recycled local materials in tune with the surroundings. Les Sources de Caudalie is managed in keeping with the values of: well-being, generosity, authenticity, high-quality service, and emotion. Welcome to a universe where everything is devoted to nature, taste and senses.

This place is the definition of 5 stars. Just pulling up to the property is an experience (even our cab driver couldn't contain his awe). The check in process was seamless. We appeciated a significantly earlier check in than expected, and a lovely upgrade. Our room was absolutely gorgeous and lovingly taken care of by the sweet housekeeping staff. Our balcony looked out on the property and was a beautiful place to relax. The property is beyond stunning. The sounds of the ducks provide immediate relaxation as you take in the pond and the vineyards beyond. All three restaurants are excellent. Rouge is a place to relax with a glass of delicious wine or espresso, and some small plates/cheese to share- very laid back, no planning needed. The country restaurant is warm and cozy with a fireplace and has a delicious menu and wine list. The michelin restaurant is everything you would expect- truthfully I find these experiences over the top and excessive, but we were there so wanted to experience it. Delcious wine is everywhere you look. The vineyard on site is a beautiful place to visit- don't skip the tour offered to hotel guests where you get to see the centuries old cellar. The wine was my favorite from Chateau Smith Haute Lafitte. We also biked to other chateaus that we booked appointments at- biking around the vineyards was a lovely experience. The property is just incredible. The outdoor pool was still open and quite lovely with a "spa" aka hot tub. There is also a stunning indoor pool adjacent to the gym- and a sauna which I believe you can use by request. The other spa facilities I did not see as I did not book enough at the spa to access that. I did get a facial and it was lovely- the Caudalie products are amazing. The only problem is that we did not spend enough time here! Two nights was not enough. Next time I would stay 4 nights and bike to the close town, see more vineyards, maybe walk around the city of Bordeaux some. The value was outstanding- similar properties in Napa region would be 3x the price.

We celebrated a friends 60th at Les Sources and had an outstanding stay. Service is perfect, rooms are clean and beds are extremely comfortable. The grounds are well maintained and absolutely beautiful. There is no question we will be coming back.

Very comfortable suite, very attentive staff, excellent restaurants, nice view to the Chateau. It was a delicious stay at this hotel.

Beautiful hotel close to wineries, but expensive for what we received. Food was great, but the service and value was not up to the cost of the stay. We were not shown around the property when arriving, and staff were not as friendly as sister property we stayed at.

We stayed here for 5 nights. Most people stay 2 or 3 nights. When we checked in the girl at reception confirmed our dinner reservations and escorted us to our room. It was a dark room at the back of the hotel that whenever someone moved upstairs you could hear the floorboards creaking. We asked to move and there was no hesitation as they obviously knew it wasn’t a good room but thought they would try to pass it onto us. We are seasoned travellers and know what to look out for. They moved us to a lighter room in the top floor. We thought we would move our 2 Michelin star dinner at Le Grand Vigne to a different night but when we asked another girl at reception she said to keep our dinner reservation for the Wed night as it was fully booked for a month. We got more formally dressed for the dinner. When we got to the restaurant (in the hotel) they had no booking for us. It was extremely disappointing and embarrassing as we were pushed aside and other guests were escorted in straight to their table. We were shuffled from the restaurant entrance to the hotel reception for 20/25 minutes. No offer for us to sit at the bar while they worked out what had happened to our reservation. It felt like we had to work something out ourselves. Next minute chairs are being shuffled into the restaurant and a table made up for us. The whole experience was not pleasant at all and no way to start our night at a two Michelin star restaurant. We would have liked to of been sat in the main dining room but of course we were lucky just to be squeezed in! The restaurant said they would contact the GM and he would contact us. We had no contact from the GM. After 24 hours we heard from the junior manager and he only seemed happy to hear we didn’t publish anything online. I felt our concerns were not heard that he was only happy we didn’t escalate the matter. After speaking with the manager the hotel staff were also different. No more welcoming greetings. Each time we walked through the reception area it felt they tried to look away and not make any eye contact. It really made our stay feel uncomfortable. The hotel and dinners were expensive and I feel we should have gone elsewhere as the unwelcoming feeling was not a nice way to spend your holiday. The GM should have acknowledged our issue and at the very minimum should have emailed let alone spoken to us. I feel this hotel has lost its way and the care is gone. I would not return or recommend this hotel.
