The property, staff and atmosphere were absolutely stunning. From the picturesque sunsets overlooking the countryside of Volterra, to the fairytale village setting and all the amenities, Borgo Pignano was nothing short of amazing. The service was excellent but relaxed creating an ideal environment for us to enjoy the magic of Tuscany. Our 9 year son loved truffle hunting with the dogs and the ability to bike, run and explore the property. Truly heaven on earth.

Set against the extraordinary landscape of Tuscany, the property is undeniably beautiful, but it is the standard of hospitality that makes it truly exceptional. There is a quiet confidence to the way Borgo Pignano operates: nothing feels rehearsed or overdone, yet everything feels considered. The smallest details are anticipated, the service is intuitive, and every interaction carries a rare combination of warmth, attentiveness, and polish. Having stayed at many high-end hotels, we found the attention to detail here particularly impressive. Luxury at Borgo Pignano is not expressed through excess, but through thoughtfulness — the sense that someone has considered how each moment of a guest’s stay should feel. It is sophisticated without being formal, attentive without being intrusive, and personal without ever losing its refinement. The food deserves equal praise. Exceptional ingredients, beautifully executed dishes, and an unmistakable sense of place made dining one of the great pleasures of our stay. A particular highlight was the pasta-making class with Chef Giovani. Authentic, engaging, and generous with his knowledge, he taught us the techniques behind making ravioli and pici, bringing both skill and personality to the experience. We will be carrying his techniques home with us to the States — and hopefully putting them to good use in our own kitchen. What we will remember most, however, are the people. A hotel can create beautiful surroundings, but it takes an extraordinary team to give a place its soul. Lorenzo, Giulio, and Claudia at the bar brought warmth and personality to every encounter. Krizia and her team at the restaurants specifically Catalina, Noamie, and Sara were gracious, polished, and wonderfully attentive. Adam, Kevin, and Theo at the pool seemed to anticipate what was needed before it was ever asked. At the front of house, Gigi, Victorio, Francesco, and Eduardo embodied the spirit of Borgo Pignano — gracious, composed, genuinely welcoming, and seemingly effortless in the way they cared for their guests. And a special mention must go to Francesco and Eleanora at our villa, whose thoughtful and personal care elevated our stay immeasurably. They made everything feel seamless while retaining the warmth and sincerity that is so often missing from luxury hospitality. Borgo Pignano manages something increasingly rare: impeccable standards without stiffness, refinement without pretension, and service that feels deeply personal rather than simply professional. We arrived expecting a beautiful Tuscan retreat. We left remembering the people who made it feel like something much more.

We had the most wonderful weekend at Borgo Pignano Volterra hotel — a truly magical Tuscan property surrounded by breathtaking scenery. The beautiful setting, exceptional cuisine and impeccable service made our stay unforgettable. One of the absolute highlights was meeting Luigi (Gigi) who gave us a fascinating private tour of the property . With warmth, charm and a genuine passion for Borgo Pignano, he opened the door to some of its most special hidden treasures: the private winery, the stables and the apiary. Everything here is lovingly preserved according to centuries-old traditions and maintained to the highest standard. Gigi is a wonderful storyteller and the perfect guide. In his company, you do not simply visit the hotel — you truly feel its soul and discover an atmosphere filled with centuries of Tuscan history. I wholeheartedly recommend that every guest spend this magical hour with Gigi. It is a very special experience that brings the history, beauty and authentic spirit of Borgo Pignano to life. Borgo Pignano was one of the highlights of our trip to Italy and exactly what we hoped the Tuscan countryside would feel like. The property itself is extraordinary—centuries-old architecture surrounded by rolling hills, vineyards, gardens, and some of the most beautiful views imaginable. There is a wonderful sense of history here, but without sacrificing comfort or service. The infinity pool built into the hillside is spectacular. What really sets Borgo Pignano apart, though, is that the property is a destination in itself. We loved their wine, learning about the bees, truffle hunting with the dogs, the herbal lab experience, walking the grounds, eating outdoors, and simply slowing down and enjoying the countryside. Breakfast each morning was exceptional, with fresh-squeezed orange juice, local pastries, proteins, and beautiful ingredients. The service throughout our stay was warm, attentive, and highly personalized. The location is also ideal for exploring Tuscany. We easily visited Volterra, Sienna, and San Gimignano, yet returning to the quiet of Borgo Pignano afterward felt like coming back to our own little corner of Tuscany. For travelers who appreciate history, architecture, excellent wine, organic agriculture, beautiful food, and understated luxury rather than a resort atmosphere, Borgo Pignano is something very special. We would absolutely return.

Borgo Pignano is definetely one of the best around Tuscan! The service, rooms, food and pool are off the chart! We had a very pleasant experience with Gigi visiting the hotel area and surroundings! Location is great for San Giminiano, Volterra and Siena! Would definitely come back
