Reviews for AC Hotel by Marriott Maui Wailea

Disappointed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

As a Marriott Bonvoy member, I chose the AC Hotel Maui Wailea with confidence, expecting a level of service and quality consistent with the Marriott brand. Unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing and did not align with the expectations created by the hotel’s advertising, pricing, or Marriott’s reputation. The most noticeable issue is staffing. There appears to be very limited staff available throughout the property. In addition, I observed individuals who appeared to be hotel employees working throughout the property while out of uniform and wearing flip-flops, making it difficult to identify staff members and creating an unprofessional impression. Security was also a concern. During my stay, I noticed what appeared to be only a single visible security camera located near the front desk. I did not observe cameras near the elevators or in other common guest areas. While I understand not all security measures are visible, the apparent lack of security monitoring in key areas did not provide the level of confidence and peace of mind I would expect from a property charging premium rates. Housekeeping service was inconsistent during my stay, often arriving after 4:00 PM, and on multiple occasions I had to contact the front desk to request service. Basic essentials such as toilet paper and other room supplies were not consistently replenished. The property charges $40 per day for parking, yet valet service is not offered. Given the parking fee, I expected a higher level of service. The breakfast offering, priced at approximately $30 per person, was particularly disappointing. The selection remained virtually identical every day and consisted primarily of coffee, scrambled eggs, muffins, sliced cold cuts, and hard-boiled eggs. The value simply does not match the price being charged. Cleanliness and sanitation were also concerns. The main lobby doors are routinely left open, allowing birds to enter the building. During breakfast, birds were frequently flying around and near the food service area, creating an unsanitary environment and raising concerns about food safety. The pool area was also poorly maintained throughout my stay. Bird droppings remained on chairs and tables, trash and debris were left on the ground, and the area did not appear to be cleaned regularly. The lack of visible staff presence only added to the impression that common areas were not being adequately maintained. Most disappointing was the gap between the hotel’s marketing and the actual guest experience. The website and promotional materials portray a premium resort experience, yet the reality fell far short of those expectations. At rates exceeding $600 per night, I expected a level of service, attention to detail, cleanliness, professionalism, and amenities consistent with a luxury Maui resort. Instead, the overall experience felt comparable to a much lower-priced hotel. As a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member, this is not the level of experience I have come to expect from Marriott properties. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and makes the necessary improvements. The property has a great location and potential, but in its current state it does not deliver the level of experience its pricing and advertising suggest.

Beautiful quiet spot in Waliea

Love this hotel - the pool and pool area is gorgeous - views are amazing and all of the staff are so friendly and helpful! The food at the bar and the cocktails were all very good. So special to sit on the balcony and enjoy the views also from your room - with your own drink - extra touch is having your glasses already set up in the fridge! Love that.

Annoying music

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

Great location to be able to walk to a bunch of shops and restaurants. The sunset was amazing on one of our nights and enjoyed the pool. As Elite members we were surprised we weren’t asked that when we checked in. We ended up in a room next to the road with trucks roaring by at 4:30AM. And again as a few other people said the annoying techo music being played. Any kind of island music would be better.

Great Wailea Hub!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 months ago

We needed a hub in Wailea for our adventuring around and AC provided the perfect place for that! Hotel felt fresh, modern and very clean. We got a gorgeous corner ocean view room which was icing on the cake! Didn't spend too much time at the pool but it was well set up & never too busy during our visit. We drove to a few beaches that were less popular and more secluded, but I think there was walkable access to the beaches by the resorts on the beach - not a far drive either. Proximity to the shops & market were nice. We walked often - the plaza right across the street had a lot of good restaurants and coffee shops and Monkeypod is just up the hill walking distance too. We also loved that our snorkel tour HQ was RIGHT next door, too! Check out the Aquarium/Marine Center included with your resort fee - we went and were really impressed by it. Its roughly 20 mins away. Tickets are a $50 value per person so we were pretty impressed they were included!

All Good bar the Music

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

Location is good, just five minutes walk from the Wailea Shops, which contains upmarket shops and quality restaurants. Hotel and our room were spotlessly clean and staff were always helpful and friendly. All rooms have a balcony. Swimming pool has an attached bubble pool, though they were rather small and finding a sunbed would be challenging if the hotel was full. There was a nice breakfast facility with a small shop selling everyday essentials nearby. Bar was okay serving typical Hawaiian bar food. A downside was the monotonous supermarket type music played all in the pool area which also could be heard in the rooms. It got more annoying as the week progressed.
