Reviews for Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea

Way overpriced for a sub-standard experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

I really wanted to enjoy this vacation, but ultimately came away just feeling ripped off. We originally had a 1 bedroom ocean view suite that cost around $5k per night. It was me, my husband and our 2 teenage kids, so we needed either two rooms or a suite with 2 bathrooms. We booked late due to travel changes so we went with the suite to ensure we were together. A few days before we arrived we received multiple calls from them asking if we wanted to upgrade our room to a 1 bedroom ocean front suite. They made it sound spectacular, so we took the upgrade at an additional $3k cost as it came with some other minor benefits (free laundry and parking). What a disappointment. Our room was on the Spago side of the resort one floor up from the presidential suite. Our ocean front view was basically the sunshades of the presidential suite, then the extensive garden for the presidential suite, then the roof of Spago and then, finally, a small view of the ocean obstructed by palms. Incredibly sad for $3k extra. Plus the design of the building with huge columns meant you felt incredibly closed in. The whole resort could do with a face lift. They are currently working on multiple spaces so there was a lot of construction. No discount provided for this disruption. The spa was also in temporary space and that was just sad. It was just empty guest rooms. No shower facilities to use and you changed in a curtain cubicle. Again, no discount but I was told multiple times how the disruption is worth it because the new spa will be amazing. That’s great for whoever experiences it, but it did not help me at all. The whole resort felt claustrophobic. It is very narrow, so views are limited. Also the pool areas are very small and surrounded by cabanas so you do not actually see the ocean from the pools unless you pay an extra $1,250 per day for ocean view cabanas. Last problem was that we had bad weather for a few days. This meant that Ferraros was closed. This really highlighted the limited food options and bad weather options at the resort. All you could do was order room service. Now the staff were lovely. I just think the resort is dated and is configured badly. The real kicker is the crazy cost. This place is riding on its White Lotus notoriety and charging twice what other similar resorts would charge. I would not come back here again. The Four Seasons on Oahu is much better for less money.

Baby bliss!

All around amazing. Service and detail are above and beyond. We traveled with our 8 month old and the service made it a breeze. Complimentary cabanas made it easy to safely enjoy the pool and beach. They even provided a pack and play for our cabana. We will look forward to coming back each year!

Perfect in every way

This was our first time in Maui and our first time in a Four Seasons. The Four Seasons Maui in Wailea made this trip unforgettable and perfect in every way! The staff were nothing but friendly, welcoming, and tentative. The rooms and grounds were spotless and beautiful. The food at Spago and Duo were nothing less than 5 stars. I liked that we could communicate with hotel staff via the tablet in the room or through the App. This was the first resort that we stayed at that offered endless water bottles and also provided refillable bottles for the built in bottle fillers throughout the resort. I can see why celebrates have stayed here; the resort was nothing but perfect!

Our stay at the FS Maui was everything we could have asked for. Started off on a great note when we were able to be upgraded from our Mountainside room to a Garden View room and then when we were offered a Garden View Suite at a very minor cost - which we took and was well worth it with ocean views to watch the whales from our balcony. Duo, Ferraro, and the Lobby Lounge were great. We had breakfast included everyday through Chase travel which was a great way to start the day. The Spa and Gym were better than expected given they were redoing their primary facilities. The adult pool bar was awesome for lunch. The whole process of getting seats for the adult pool is a personal decision if you deem it worth it when there is a breathtaking beach steps away. All of the staff was extremely kind and made sure you never wanted to go home. This was a splurge for us and can’t reiterate enough that it was a trip of a lifetime and will have us counting down the days until we can go back to Maui.

When you want the true experience of Hawaii and the very best!

We traveled half way around the world to return to the Four Seasons Maui, and upon arriving felt as if the travel was nothing at all. We arrived very early but still received the warmest welcome, with leis and welcome drinks. Sincere aloha here is just the beginning. Many even luxury hotels have limited their concierge assistance, not here. Management has invested tremendous resources into the care of their team and guests. There is a full Clefs d’Or team ready to give you the keys to the island, and they did. They booked us on an incredible complimentary outrigger tour . It left directly from the hotel beach and we headed out as though invited to a whale family reunion they were so close, and returned just in time to greet the sun as it was rising over Haleakala. It was a once in a lifetime experience. This is available to all guests complimentary. The concierge also helped us book a private guided kayak tour, also from the beach in front of the hotel, which was fantastic, but not as good as the outrigger tour. We’ve dined at all the restaurants, all very good, but Ferraro’s was our favorite. If anything the dishes and service are better than they have ever been. My family loves sushi and we enjoyed two amazing dinners at KOMO, the Four Seasons new sushi restaurant. If you are going within the next six months and are worried about renovations, don’t. I worried and looked at other options and am so glad we chose the Four Seasons. They overstated the disruption and did an incredible job with offering guests an enormous outside but shaded gym, with an incredible selection of equipment and weights and cardio equipment. If you remember the size of the old gym, even including the outside space, the new temporary gym is at least three times that size. They also added two cold plunge pools, and a sauna, and many many of those new infrared face masks for complimentary use. It was incredible and only outshone in experience by the skill of my therapist, Francois. We sleep well at Four Seasons, and I don’t know why but never better than in Maui. Till we return we will dream of the memories we made there as a family. Mahalo Four Seasons Maui!

Everything wonderful you have ever heard about this resort doesn't even give it enough justice. It is located in Wailea which is an upscale area in itself with beautiful golf courses, restaurants and shops all within 5 minutes by car.
