We stayed at the Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Maui from October 17–21, 2025, expecting a high-end, luxury getaway. Unfortunately, our stay was far from that. The room was dated and not properly cleaned, with visible mold in the shower and an overall worn feel. Upon check-in, we were given a room with two queen beds instead of a king, and when we requested a change, we were told no other rooms were available. On top of that, the food was overpriced considering the quality and options. For the premium price we paid, we expected a much higher level of comfort and service. We’ve stayed at far less expensive hotels that were cleaner and offered better value. Overall, this stay was a major disappointment and certainly not worth the cost. The Waldorf Astoria name usually stands for elegance and quality, but this property did not live up to that reputation. 1 out of 5 stars.

Let me start by saying I am not a world traveler. But we like "nicer" hotels when traveling so it feels as close to home as possible. We have been fortunate to have stayed at several 5 star properties over the years (Montage/Pendry mostly) and they blow the Grand Wailea out of the water. We have now been to Maui 3 times in the past 4 years with our kids. This time we decided to splurge a little and stay at the Grand Wailea a couple of nights to kick off the trip mainly for the pools for the kids but also for the 5star resort experience on Maui. Previously we have stayed at the Sheraton, Westin and done VRBOs at the Honua Kai Resort. The pools were great, kids loved them and they were certainly unique. The staff was also great. Very nice and helpful when needed. Beach in front of hotel also fantastic. The hotel itself however wasn't what I would consider 5 Star - 3 at best. The rooms were very outdated and power outlets were scarce and every restaurant on site was so over the top expensive it was ridiculous. Brunch for 2 adults was $180 after tip. yes it was good....but I wouldn't say it was worth it. We get you pay extra for Maui . But the room service we got on night one was a small pizza, grilled cheese and 2 burgers (no fries included) all for the total of $130. And the grilled cheese was basically white bread with kraft cheese. My 9 year old said it was the worst she has ever had. Didn't even finish it. Save your money - eat in Kihei ANYWHERE and you will be better off. On top of this when our receipt came - they added on extra charges - literally ADDED an ADDON VALET CHARGE (that is what it is called on the bill) of $68 on top of the $75 you HAVE to pay. They added this charge for every day we were there. They also added on a "bonus points" fee of $50. Which we did not sign up for. When you try and dispute the charges you get transfered from department to department within the hotel and always end up at a non descript voicemail that is supposedly the accounting department. I have yet to hear back from them after leaving messages. I have had to resort to calling corporate accounting/billing and am still waiting on a response. Save your money - stay at the Ritz, Four Seasons, Andaz or Montage for the real 5 star experience.

Revenue centric hotel. The best views are held by a nobu restaurant that is open only 4 hrs a day. That is cookoo. We stayed free on points and had generous credits from amex cards to help with high food costs and valet parking fees. Enjoyed the resort grounds. Its time to get some new mattresses and hilton should be more generous with room upgrades. They asked for $100/night extra for ocean view. Worth it sure, but on principle we the buyers have to decline that or else every hotel gm on planet earth will sell out to that approach.

We had the best family vacation here with our 7 and 9 year old. We did do a lot of exploring off property, but our kids loved the pool area so much that we always had to leave time for that. The Tarzan rope swing into the pool was a huge hit. And no lines!! Don’t plan to eat all your meals at the resort—I would stop at a grocery on the way in to get snacks and breakfast bars. But wow, what a nice property! Thank you to the young lady at valet who took the time to ask where we were headed and gave us a nice road map for the Road to Hana. We may not be able to afford to stay here again, but it was worth it at least once.

First of all, we are Hilton gold member. My family and I spent the last 4 days at this property and we didn't have a great experience as we expect from a 5 star hotel that chargers $1300 per night. We are frequent travelers. We have stayed at the fairmont and Marriott in the area and paid about the same price. However this property is the worst we ever had/ experience. Let's start with the valet which was our first negative impression/ experience. DENNIS at the valet is rude with zero manner and he lied to me. He told me I would get charged for valet fee regardless if I'm staying overnight or not. Remind you, they freaking charged $75 +tax per night. That's outrages!!! Almost double than fairmont or four season would charge. I have told by 3 different hotel staffs (1 valet and 2 front desks) that I wouldn't be charged if I don't park there overnight. I hope upper management would see this message and set DENNIS straight; also fixing his horrible attitude with zero smile. Everything in the property is extremely overpriced. Overpriced is 1 thing but not being worthy is the most important thing. The instruction on kiddo activities are so bad that we gave up trying. My family did like the pool especially the lazy river. The property is gorgeous and huge. But definitely need some painting to renew. We absolutely will NOT be back nor recommend this property to anyone. I would spend my money either four season or fairmont instead!!
