Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii

We stayed at the Fairmont Orchid during the first weekend of January 2025 for three nights, and unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. We had an ocean view room that was clean, but the view itself was just okay. During our stay, there was some sort of conference or event happening on the property, and the loud outdoor award ceremony completely disrupted the otherwise peaceful setting we had hoped for. Service was underwhelming across the board. Check-in took longer than it should have, and when I asked for aloe vera due to a sunburn, I was simply told to walk to a grocery store up the road—no offer of assistance or transportation, which felt dismissive and lacking in hospitality. The restaurants were another major letdown. At breakfast, we watched a bird eat food off a guest’s plate, and instead of addressing it, the restaurant staff looked the other way and let the guest continue eating. It was unhygienic and shocking for a resort of this supposed caliber. The concierge was also not helpful and offered little guidance or insight. Overall, the property didn’t feel like even a moderate luxury experience at all. We were aware it wasn’t a four seasons but definitely would have splurged on the 4 seasons had we known this fairmont didn’t live up to the fairmont experiences we had been given at in Vancouver.Between the mediocre food, poor service, and lack of attention to guest needs, we left disappointed and would not stay here again.

I had the most wonderful Lomi Lomi massage with Ariana on April 24th. Within 5 minutes if the start of the massage, I was so relaxed. I was in a cabana by the waterfall which added to my experience. I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful massage with Ariana who is a very gifted practitioner.

I want to give a huge shoutout to Iris at the Fairmont Orchid Spa! I was staying at the resort with my family, and on our last day, I started experiencing neck discomfort that was making me feel dizzy. On a whim, I called the spa hoping to squeeze in a last-minute massage before checkout. Iris answered the phone and was not only incredibly professional but also warm and kind. She went above and beyond to fit me in, and I’ll be forever grateful. The massage I received—unfortunately I can’t remember the therapist’s name (maybe Greg?)—was hands down one of the best massages I’ve ever had. He worked wonders on my neck, and I was able to enjoy the rest of our Hawaiian vacation without any dizziness or discomfort. But Iris didn’t stop there—when she learned we were heading to Hilo next, she thoughtfully shared a list of amazing recommendations for things to do and places to eat. Her genuine care and attentiveness truly made an impact. Thank you, Iris—you are an absolute gem! The Fairmont Orchid is so lucky to have you.

Came here for a conference last year with my wife. We had an amazing time at this hotel. The Fairmont Orchid staff was attentive and courteous. The room had everything we needed for our weeklong stay. The beach was easy to access. The pools weren’t crowded at all. Honestly, I enjoyed how intimate the hotel felt during our stay. I highly recommend staying here if you are in the Big Island.

My wife and I spent five nights at the Fairmont Orchid during a trip to the Big Island this past December. They provided fantastic service and the property has a beautiful tropical setting. We indulged in the breakfast buffet each morning to start the day. After a round of golf each day we relaxed around the beach area and watched a glorious sunset. We ate our evening meals on the property at the Hale Kai so we would not have to drive a long distance to another restaurant. My wife particularly enjoyed their lobster tacos. As an ALL.com member, I was provided golf clubs to use for my golf outings. It was worth splurging to enjoy our Hawaiian vacation for a few days in a tropical paradise.
