About the Hotel

Nestled along the dramatic Kohala Coast and in the piko, or center, of five great mountains, Mauna Lani is a sacred oasis where generations of families and friends have made memories together on soulful lands once cherished by the greatest of Hawaiian royalty. Greet the morning sun as it rises above the mountains' peaks from the seat of an outrigger canoe. Talk story with friends old and new at the Great Lawn as the sounds of ocean waves and laughter mingle. Dine amongst the company of loved ones at CanoeHouse, where locals have savored the island's bounty for decades. As you walk this storied coastline, breathe the rejuvenating salt air and swim in the crystalline waters, you feel the same mana, or spiritual energy, that first captivated legends like King Kamehameha I and Francis H. I'i Brown.

In the rooms you'll find an understated, natural décor that’s bright and refined, with ample hardwood, natural fabrics, and textures that embody the essence of the soulful Hawaiian escape. Our luxury residences are ideal for guests traveling with extended family and friends, or simply desire more space, and rooms located above our adult pool offer a haven for couples or those celebrating something special.

New favorite hotel in The Big Island!

Such a lovely hotel. Great food. Kids eat free! For a family this property beat Four Seasons Hualalai for us! Also the snorkel beyond the reef was unforgettable. It’s a MUST DO!

Beach front serenity with impeccable service

Great service and beautiful resort grounds, the beach front access w/ comfortable (reserved) seating and service. Meals were all very good, the Canoe House was exceptional. Prices are as you would expect at 5* Hawaiian resort. Room was comfortable but not over the top.

Excellent facility with the best staff I have ever encountered. The most beautiful location on the island. With walkout access to the beach.

Never Returning to Hawaii Anyone who rates this hotel a 5 star experience either hasn't travelled before or is full of dog doo-doo. This is an elegant Embassy Suites, with absolutely terrible unusable rocky beaches and the island is filled with residents who seem to view tourists as a huge annoyance.
