About the Hotel

Nestled along the dramatic Kohala Coast and in the piko, or center, of five great mountains, Mauna Lani is a sacred oasis where generations of families and friends have made memories together on soulful lands once cherished by the greatest of Hawaiian royalty. Greet the morning sun as it rises above the mountains' peaks from the seat of an outrigger canoe. Talk story with friends old and new at the Great Lawn as the sounds of ocean waves and laughter mingle. Dine amongst the company of loved ones at CanoeHouse, where locals have savored the island's bounty for decades. As you walk this storied coastline, breathe the rejuvenating salt air and swim in the crystalline waters, you feel the same mana, or spiritual energy, that first captivated legends like King Kamehameha I and Francis H. I'i Brown.

In the rooms you'll find an understated, natural décor that’s bright and refined, with ample hardwood, natural fabrics, and textures that embody the essence of the soulful Hawaiian escape. Our luxury residences are ideal for guests traveling with extended family and friends, or simply desire more space, and rooms located above our adult pool offer a haven for couples or those celebrating something special.

Summer Vacation at Mauna Lani never disappoints

my second trip to Mauna Lani and it did not disappoint. The staff, service and rooms are always great and we love sunset dinners at The Canoe House

Perfect resort, not too small and not too big, easy for families to navigate. Nice selection of food options and activities.

Frustrating

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We’re two days into our stay and already feeling disappointed/ frustrated. The hotel is not a world class 5* hotel - more like a crowded 4 star. The hotel, though renovated, feels dated in many common areas. We haven’t been able to get a lounger at the pool or the beach for the whole time we have been here even though we have put our name on the waitlist multiple times. There are lines for everything and they have clearly overcommitted on many fronts. The staff are not well trained or very welcoming - and seem a little frazzled / stressed. Not a great environment to be serene and chill in - which is what we were truly after, after a long year of working. It’s also very expensive here for everything - $25+ for cocktails, etc. 5 star prices for 4 star service. We still have a couple of days left here - and then will move to the Four Seasons after that. We’ll post a review from there.

Lovely resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

The resort is lovely and most of the staff are great. Only issue was with reservations and check in which can be frustrating. All in all the family enjoyed the stay and we may be back again (hopefully they will pay more attention to our requests made when we made the reservations). This is definitely a good place and value for families with young children.

World Class

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

If you want a world class experience, please do yourself a favor and book this resort. You will not find a more well thought out hotel. The staff is warm and thoughtful. The food is great and easily accessible, especially in the early mornings when us jet lagged folks get up way to early. The environment is always clean and staff is constantly attending to ensure the standard. The managers are top notch, experiences are plenty, and you feel safe to let your kids roam around. Easy to get your car in and out, the outside day trips are a blast, and you will find this as a place in which you will want to return.
