The name Dupont may be the most common surname in France, but in the United States it is known as one of the toniest areas of Washington DC. At the very top of Dupont Circle is The Dupont Hotel, perhaps the only place in the city where politicos and party leaders can peacefully co-exist. Newly re-opened and part of The Doyle Collection of properties, The Dupont Hotel's modernly designed spaces are evident throughout the public areas as well as behind each and every guest room door. Contemporary appointments add another layer of luxury to the hotel's harmonious setting. Amenities are abundant with private physical training, in-suite massage and spa services, heated bathroom floors and an entire level reserved for those wanting private membership to the property.

We decided to book a suite and spend our wedding night here after hearing great reviews and spending one night here in the past (we're locals) and we were so disappointed at every turn. Some issues we experienced: - not being able to check in before our wedding (despite calling ahead and explaining the situation) and barely making the midnight check in cutoff because of our wedding - after waiting, getting a totally different room than described and having staff dismiss me saying we were too late checking in (because of THEM) to get our original room, and don't we like it? - TV streaming not working in our room (in fact, one TV was stuck on live Telemundo and couldn't be changed!) - sanitary issues (including towels smelling like wet dog and an old pizza box under the coffee table) - TV flickering on every 20 minutes in the bedroom so we couldn't sleep - most critically, the pilot light in our fireplace going out and gas filling our room. We only noticed because the phones didn't work and I had to go down to the front desk to request a ginger ale. For this potentially life threatening situation, we received barely a shrug from staff when we mentioned it. We ended up needing to move suites and spent hours with maintenance staff in our room trying to work things out at a time we wanted to decompress, relax, and be together in our first few hours of marriage. When the TV flickered on for the 5th time when we were trying to sleep, we just left (admittedly in a huff after everything else) and went home. We did receive one night off our bill and the opportunity to come back for a comped night, but that comped experience wasn't much better. It's unfortunate how poorly maintained this place is and how poor the staff is trained. Any other luxury hotel would have pulled out all the stops for our return visit, while the front desk here asked us several times at check in "oh have you stayed with us before?" This visit also had issues including: - cockroaches on the balcony - TV streaming not working in our room - the jetted tub coming on randomly when there wasn't even any water in it. I ended up trying to find a way to unplug it for the night so we didn't have to keep getting startled - getting a call at 9:30AM asking if we could come by the front desk at check out since they forgot to get our credit card information(??) - room service forgetting major pieces of breakfast (really, you forget a bagel in a bagel platter?) and when we asked if we could have a box sent up, they forgot For a comped experience to make up for a really bad experience, I'd also expect a bottle of bubbly or at least some chocolate covered strawberries or something in the room as a "welcome back, here's our best foot forward" but nope, not even that. Stay here if you don't mind overpaying for mediocre at best service and poor maintenance. It's a great location and the downstairs restaurants are excellent! But the rest needs a full reset. It is wild to me that we have now experienced 3 of their most expensive rooms and all three had major issues. Never again.

First and foremost, the service is excellent throughout the hotel. We had fantastic experiences in the bar and restaurants. The location is perfect for seeing several areas of DC easily. We spent time in Georgetown, Downtown, Foggy Bottom, and more--all were an easy ride. We will stay here any time we are in DC.

Excellent hotel in an excellent location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and well taken care of. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to be centrally located for easing walking and easy access to the metro.

I've always loved this hotel. However, a previous stay in April was not the best experience. I have to say, I was so impressed with how the team handled my discomfort. They apologized and promised to do better at my August stay. And that they did. The management at this hotel is top notch and really know something about customer service and how to get customers to keep coming back.

Sophisticated and reasonably priced hotel convenient to Metro next block. Great staff and wonderful bar across Dupont Circle park.
