Great historic hotel. Real charm. Excellent breakfast Speakeasy downstairs has great coasters. Passable gym What a location Gurtej checked me in twice - top shelf professional, solved every niggle with a smile, which at 2am counts for a lot.

Very disappointing experience for us. I was eagerly looking forward to our 3-night stay at The Hay-Adams and first impressions were good; beautiful lobby, attentive staff etc....then we got to our room which was directly across from the elevator on the second floor. I am a light sleeper so I called down to the front desk to see if we could change to a room farther away. They told me to check back and they would look into it. We were supposed to be staying in a better room grade at almost $800 a night so I thought it would no be a problem--and finally they said they had a room on the 6th floor, unfortunately with only a queen size bed but we said we would take it. We got to the room which was an interior room directly across from a huge generator which had a constant loud buzz. It was awful and the next morning I asked to be moved back to our original room. No other choice was offered, we would have paid more for a better room. We moved back in the afternoon as they said the cleaning staff had to make it ready. The room itself is pretty, nice decoration but we found the sealed shampoo had already been opened. Bar is nice albeit the bar staff not very friendly.

Great hotel but no lounge to relax in, breakfast over priced but very nice and lovely staff, apart from the very rude Eastern European lady on reception when we was checking out.

My experience at the Hay-Adams was truly unforgettable. I planned my proposal here in December, and everything went smoothly from start to finish. We started the afternoon with high tea, which was excellent. The tea service was beautiful, the food was outstanding, and the atmosphere was relaxed and elegant. The staff were welcoming and attentive without being overbearing, which made it feel special right away. I worked with Chelsea Hartley ahead of time to plan the proposal, and she was incredible throughout the process. She was thoughtful, responsive, and made everything easy. Chelsea even came up with a clever excuse to get us up to the rooftop that did not give away that anything special was happening, which I really appreciated. Once we were upstairs, she guided us to the spot she had set up, and everything came together just as planned. The setting was private and beautiful, and I was able to propose without any issues. I had also worked with Chelsea beforehand to choose a rosé that my fiancée loves, and that small detail meant a lot to us. Thanks to Chelsea and the team at the Hay-Adams, the proposal went perfectly. It was an incredibly special and memorable moment, and I am very grateful to everyone who helped make it happen. I would absolutely recommend the Hay-Adams to anyone planning a special occasion!
