InterContinental Washington DC - The Wharf

The location can be a little congested but the valet attendants are so friendly and helpful. Just make sure you request your car though the link about 15-20 minutes before so you’re not late to whatever activities you have planned. The hotel is beautiful and the customer service is top tier. I was not impressed by the breakfast at the hotel but other than that amazing.

This stay fell short of what I'd expect from an InterContinental property, for several reasons. Our biggest issue was being placed on the 3rd floor, which houses the gym, spa, telecom offices, and public restrooms. Every other floor requires a key card for access, but the 3rd floor doesn't. There's a card scanner on the double doors leading to the guest room hallway, but the doors aren't actually locked, so anyone can walk through. Between that and the low floor, we didn't feel secure. We also got significant noise from early-morning deliveries and trash collection. The room itself was fine, if basic. When we had trouble casting from a laptop to the room TV, we called the support number listed on the TV and spent 20 minutes with them, only to be told that service no longer supports InterContinental properties. We then called the front desk, who said someone would bring us a cable in 15 minutes. Hours later, after nothing arrived, we called again and were told they don't provide that service at all. To top it off, we were charged for the original tech support call. The real letdown was the "breakfast included" promotion. At check-in, we were told to charge breakfast to the room, with an $80 daily credit applied for two people. At the restaurant, we were handed menus with no prices, just a note that guests on the breakfast plan each get one drink and one meal. When the check arrived, a gratuity was already added — one that conveniently always brought the total to just under $80. We assumed we'd be reimbursed in full at checkout, but learned that gratuity didn't count toward the $80 credit, even when the meal itself only came to $65–70, meaning we were charged extra daily regardless. It's less about the money and more about the lack of transparency in how charges were structured. Food and service at the Willowsong restaurant were genuinely great. Hotel staff overall were adequate — nothing more. With so many strong hotel options in the area, I wouldn't risk staying here again. If you do book, insist on a higher floor and go in with clear eyes about how the breakfast program actually works.

We had a good stay at The Wharf IHG. The hotel is located in a great location close to all of the restaurants, rooms are very spacious ( we had a double queen) and well appointed. The food , albeit pricey, was excellent. We booked through AMEX and had breakfast included. The pool area , while on the smaller side, was also very nice, with a full service bar. There were some minor inconveniences, one of the elevators wasn’t working, so there was often a line or long wait . Room service left dirty pillow sheets on our floor and our door didn’t shut without using force. All in all, we would recommend and stay again but I would classify this as a 4 star not 5 star.

Its ALWAYS a good stay at the InterContinental in Washington, DC!! From the very moment u arrive, you are greeted w/a welcome and smile. My girlfriend and i did a staycation here. Being able to enjoy the spectacular wharf views from sunrise to sunset is EVERYTHING!!! Erinn checked us in and was extremely helpful making sure the room we had choose was exactly how we wanted it to be. He truly went above & beyond to make sure we were happy!! And that we were😊!!! The beds are top notch, rooms are extremely clean and very nice service. We even were surprised with bed turn down service and a piece of chocolate. We had a lovely visit and we look forward to seeing Erinn again as well as the rest of the staff. This will forever be ONE of our places to stay when getting away from home. Five stars!!!!

We did not stay at the hotel but used the spa. Phides understood the assignment. Great massage with expert knowledge of how muscles work. Relaxing but technical. The lounge area is a plus. You can relax before and after, with great views of the water, tea and snacks.
