Reviews for The Normandy Hotel

An outstanding hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The Normandy Hotel is an outstanding, small hotel. It has an excellent location, within walking distance of many fine restaurants on Connecticut Avenue. The rooms are clean and of a decent size. The staff are professional, efficient and friendly, with special kudos to Max and Annisa. They also serve a very good breakfast. When we return to D.C. we will be staying there. If you're looking for an excellent, boutique hotel, I highly recommend The Normandy.

Old building

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The hotel turned out to be nothing like the photos! The building and the room are very old, and there is a strange smell in the room. The coffee at the reception was cold. There is no parking. The room smelled unpleasant, we turned off the air conditioner, but it was still cold inside. I do not recommend this place.

Good alternative for conference venue located in a nice neighborhood - but dated & worn-out rooms.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

I would really only suggest this hotel for folks attending events at the Washington Hilton or are spending their time in the surrounding neighborhoods. I had a conference at the Hilton and wanted to be able to “escape” the conference at the end of the day rather than staying on site. This hotel fit the bill well and most of the hotel was also conference attendees looking for the same thing. The courtyard out front and reception hour were a pleasant addition. The bathroom in the room was lovely but the room itself was dated and underwhelming for the price point. The rooms in the back look directly into the apartments across the alley and there is significant wear and tear on the future and curtains. The windows weee dates and didn’t keep out the sound of sirens, etc. Everything was clean though. Friendly service from the staff. This was a bit too out of the way and far from a metro station to recommend to tourists visiting the downtown/mall area attractions unless you plan on Uber-ing everywhere. Be advised that the whole area is on a hill if that makes a difference for you, especially at warm temps. However, the surrounding neighborhoods are lovely for a stroll. History/politics buffs - walk down to the lower ballroom entrance of the Washington Hilton to see where Reagan was shot. The venue also hosts the annual White House Correspondents Dinner and National Prayer Breakfast.

Quiet, Relaxing Stay in DC

This hotel was the prefect place for us to stay. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We loved the wine and cheese hour where we could unwind after the day.

Disappointed in service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

4th of July weekend was a tough weekend, flights delayed and cancelled . We made it there I understand I didn’t make it the day I booked the hotel . Front desk informed me that since I didn’t show up the first day, so the whole booking was cancelled . I will be charged a no-show . Front desk informed me that they only charged me for the first day, and since I charged through Expedia, I can contact them to get some type of partial refund because the hotel said they only charge me for the first day. They made me feel they were understanding and confident I will get some type of reimbursement so I re-booked the place for remaining days but booked Churchill hotel first night. I contacted Expedia and Expedia informed me that they denied my request so I felt misleads and lied to . :/ Just be honest I didn’t have to find out from Expedia hotel denied me
