I celebrated my birthday with a two-night stay at Pendry Washington DC – The Wharf, and it was exactly the peaceful retreat I was hoping for. The service was warm, polished, and thoughtful from start to finish. The team surprised me with a birthday amenity in my room, which was a wonderful touch and made the stay feel truly personal. The hotel is beautiful, with elegant rooms, a relaxing pool and hot tub, and an atmosphere that encourages you to slow down. Its location on The Wharf is unbeatable, with restaurants, shops, bookstores, and waterfront walking paths all just steps away. Booking through The Edit made the experience even better with breakfast, a property credit, and additional hotel benefits. Every associate and wait staff were more than incredible and so very helpful! They made my birthday truly memorable and special, I’m so grateful.

From the very first phone call until the moment we checked out, our stay at the Pendry Washington DC – The Wharf was, without question, the best hotel experience my husband and I have ever had. Before we even arrived, our reservation required a few changes because the payment arrangements on our end evolved over the course of planning our trip. My first call was with Aaron, who helped us add an extra night to our reservation and was incredibly friendly from the very beginning. A later phone call, while I was asking about dry cleaning services and removing an early check-in request we no longer needed, uncovered an unexpected duplicate reservation that had been created as our travel plans evolved. The wonderful woman who helped me that day immediately recognized what had happened and started piecing everything together. I wish I had caught her name because she absolutely deserves recognition. From there, Aaron helped bring everything across the finish line. We spoke a couple more times before our arrival, and he made sure every detail was documented so the entire team understood exactly how everything should be handled. Despite what had become a fairly complicated reservation, check-in was completely seamless. When we checked in, Salma already knew exactly what was going on because Aaron had documented everything so thoroughly. Check-in was so easy. She was warm, welcoming, and immediately made us feel like valued guests. I had one unusual request. I had just had vivid blue hair extensions installed and hadn't washed them yet, so I was worried about staining the white towels. I asked if there were any darker towels I could use. Salma wasn't sure what they had available, but she promised to look into it. Less than an hour after we settled into our room, housekeeping arrived with a generous stack of towels just for me. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and the housekeeping associate who delivered them was so incredibly nice. Throughout our stay, what impressed me most was how well everyone communicated with one another. I never had to repeat our reservation details or explain our situation over and over. Every person we encountered seemed genuinely informed and prepared, which made the entire experience feel effortless. One person who stood out in particular was Adelphia at the front desk. During our stay, I had one of those embarrassingly human moments and couldn't figure out how to use the elevator. Adelphia couldn't have been kinder. She immediately put me at ease and made me laugh instead of making me feel silly. Later, I called the front desk with a question, introduced myself as "Katie, the one you helped with the elevator earlier," and without missing a beat, she laughed and said, "Oh yes, we're already well acquainted, my dear." It was such a genuine, personal moment that made me smile. She somehow managed to make every interaction feel less like a transaction and more like talking with someone who truly cared about making our stay enjoyable. The day of our black-tie event brought another unexpected request. My husband and I couldn't quite figure out how to fold his pocket square. Someone at the front desk immediately said, "I know exactly who can help," and brought out Joshua, one of the managers. Joshua couldn't have been more enthusiastic. He showed my husband several folding options, carefully folded it himself, tucked it perfectly into his tuxedo pocket, and made sure everything looked just right before sending us on our way. It wasn't part of his job, but he treated it like it was the most important thing he could be doing at that moment. We also have to recognize Miseal, the concierge. Every single time we walked in or out of the front doors, he greeted us with the biggest smile. Whether he was helping with luggage, coordinating Ubers, answering questions, or simply chatting with us while we waited for a ride, he consistently made us feel welcome. When we checked out, he even tracked our Uber and knew exactly where our driver was before we did. His warmth, attentiveness, and genuine enthusiasm made us feel less like hotel guests and more like people he was truly happy to see. He has a remarkable gift for hospitality. Raza made checkout every bit as smooth as check-in. Everything regarding our billing was exactly as it should have been, and he made a point to review the details with us before finalizing it. Before we left, I asked if he could help me identify the names of several employees because I knew I wanted to write this review and recognize the people who had made such an impression. He happily looked back through the schedules so I could make sure everyone received the credit they deserved. One of my favorite moments actually happened outside the hotel. After helping me over the phone before our arrival, Aaron and I had joked that he'd recognize me because of my long blue hair. Our schedules never seemed to line up until one afternoon when my husband and I were heading out while Aaron was returning from lunch. He immediately recognized me, stopped to introduce himself, and took a few moments to say hello before heading back to work. It was such a small gesture, but it perfectly reflected the level of personal service we experienced throughout our stay. He genuinely cared about making sure everything went well, and it showed. Beyond the incredible people, the hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. Our room was impeccably clean, elegant, comfortable, and full of thoughtful amenities, including makeup wipes, shower caps, and everything we could possibly need. The staff arranged for my formal dress to be professionally pressed after it became badly wrinkled during travel, and the process was effortless from pickup to delivery. Room service delivered one of the best burgers we've ever had, and every interaction with the staff was friendly and professional. When we requested a refrigerator because the honor bar occupied the in-room refrigerator space, one was delivered promptly, along with a fresh bucket of ice. We hadn't even thought to ask for ice, but we immediately realized we needed it. The fact that someone anticipated that small detail without us asking was incredibly thoughtful. The associate even rearranged some of the furniture so the refrigerator fit comfortably out of the way, despite the ridiculous amount of luggage I had managed to scatter around the room. On the day of our event, I also discovered at the last minute that I needed different shoes. The front desk quickly pointed me toward the best nearby options, and thanks to their recommendation, I found exactly what I needed and was back at the hotel in record time. The Moonraker rooftop bar was beautiful, the views overlooking the Wharf were stunning, and the bartenders were just as welcoming as everyone else we met. Even the complimentary citrus-tea infusion in the lobby became something we looked forward to each day (it was delicious!). The Pendry Washington DC – The Wharf is a stunning property, but what made our stay unforgettable wasn't the beautiful rooms, the incredible location, or the outstanding amenities. It was the people. Every person we encountered genuinely seemed to love what they do, and that kind of hospitality can't be manufactured. It comes from people who truly care. Thank you to Aaron, Salma, Adelphia, Joshua, Miseal, Raza, the housekeeping team, the room service team, and every other member of the Pendry staff who made our stay so special. And to the wonderful woman who helped uncover our reservation issue before we arrived, I'm sorry I never caught your name, but thank you as well. You all turned what was already a special trip into an experience we'll always remember. Because of all of you, we left wishing we had just one more day. Our room overlooked the beautiful Pool Terrace, but our schedule didn't leave us time to experience it. We sincerely hope to return someday, and we'll make sure to book extra time for some poolside R&R!

Absolutely amazing hotel! You can’t beat the waterfront location, and the beds are unbelievably comfortable. The staff is what really makes the stay special — every single person I met was friendly and eager to help from the moment I arrived. Make time for Moonraker (the views are unreal!) and enjoy the heated saltwater pool with its gorgeous water backdrop. If you’re coming to DC, this place is a must.
