Reviews for Pendry Washington DC - The Wharf

Partial River View is Pool view

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

The description on the website does not match what you actually receive. I booked a two-night stay to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday and specifically reserved a room with a partial river view. Instead, the only view we had was of the pool. There was no river view at all. I called to let them know that the room I received was not the view I had reserved. They told me the hotel was sold out and that someone would call me, but that never happened. I called again, and they said that person was no longer there and that they would text me instead. That never happened either. This is a very expensive hotel, and even though I booked four months in advance, I still didn’t receive the room I paid for. We will not be returning.

Modern Luxury Done Right

Fantastic hotel! Beautiful rooms, a super comfortable bed, friendly staff, a great gym, a lovely rooftop pool, and a cozy little lobby bar. The Wharf location is perfect for exploring DC. And finally, the most important point: this hotel is spotless. I have very high standards when it comes to cleanliness, and the Pendry exceeded them. If you’re looking for a modern, luxurious, and impeccably maintained hotel, this is it. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

Great Views, Clean Room; Experience Fair.

I’m a frequent visitor to DC and have always stayed at the Ritz. I’ve stayed at the Pendry in San Diego many times and love it. So I decided to give this location a try. I booked a one bedroom suite. Room: Comfortable and best AC and Shower ever! Living room furniture is jammed into a small space and not comfortable. Moonraker: Amazing views! Food is excellent. I ate there two nights. No reservation but the bar is open seating - so def try that approach. The bartenders are robotic. No customer service and slow to attend to guests. Noticed others had to get their attention just to order. Pool: Small like many have mentioned. Service is awful. They are super nice but I rented a Cabana I had to go to the front counter to place orders every time. The Cabana TV didn’t work, the couch had multiple stains on it and the curtains had tears. Not super comfortable for $550 rental that includes no F&B. Few luxury hotels have outdoor pools in DC, so they have a captive audience. Spa: Was hard to get reservations. When I did, they cancelled on my 2 hours before my appointment. A tech called in sick. It happens. Room Service: It took 3 calls and 30 minutes to get ice delivered. Housekeeping: Turndown service one night, not the other. Not a stellar experience, but not tragic. The pros out way the cons, but at this price point expectations are higher.

Loud, loud, very loud location/ Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Loud Hotel. The rooms are so constructed that you can hear the shower so loud that you think it is right beside you. Loud Airport Ronald Reagan, especially when the wind comes from east or north. Delivery trucks every morning make so much noise. Pool music is terrible loud (DJ). Breakfast waiting time so long, because it is just a tiny bar that offers the complementary breakfast for centurion members.

Meh

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I was upgraded due to my Amex status and thank goodness because I can't imagine how small the room would have been. The toilet leaked all night and could be heard through the closed doors. I reported it and they just took a note. I expected a drink credit or the like, but no such offer. I didn't make it a big deal since I was not staying an additional night. The pool was smaller than appeared online and super crowded. The spa was meh; no lounge chairs just upright chairs, very strange for a spa. Customer service was on par with the brand but everything else was lackluster. I would not stay again.
