To step inside our soaring entrance is to become a part of the past, present, and future of the Penn Quarter. Constructed in 1891 as a headquarters for Riggs National Bank, the landmark example of Richardson Romanesque architecture was known as the Bank of Presidents, and resides at the intersection not just of 9th and F Street, but of American history.

Beautiful hotel that offers great customer service. The hotel has a gigantic gum ball machine which is an eye catcher for kids. The location of this hotel is very convenient with restaurants, bars, stores and walking distance to many historical sites.

The Riggs is a beautiful hotel, and I can’t say enough good things about it! We went for our 40th anniversary and were treated like royalty from the moment we walked in the door! We received a card and complimentary champagne in our upgraded suite. We also had complimentary champagne and cake in the cafe for dinner, which by the way is a wonderful restaurant. We enjoyed a drink at Silver Lyon in the “vault” after dinner. And breakfast the next morning was perfect. We will definitely be back!!

Quick business trip overnight and ended up booking this due to the good reviews. Hotel is beautiful, and service was fantastic. Historical building (former Federal Bank) which gives it an old style, but in a good way. Would definitely recommend.

We were very happy with our stay at Riggs hotel until a month later when we noticed we were charged $200. I called the hotel and they said it was for soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion that were in the bathroom that we took with us. They said there was a sign stating we would be charged. I did not see any sign as I would have absolutely have noticed. They charged us $40 a bottle. It was ridiculous and absolutely a hidden cost. The hotel did not disclose we would be charged for this and it was very disappointing.

My stay at the Riggs was outstanding. I chose it for its central Penn's Quarter location, close to major DC attractions like Ford’s Theater and The Smithsonian Portrait Gallery, as well as nearby restaurants and shops. The hotel has been impressively upgraded since my last visit eight years ago when it was under a different brand. The decor was very stylish and reflected the building's historic bank roots. Most notably, the entire staff was exceptionally welcoming and helpful throughout our entire stay. I look forward to returning.
