To step inside our soaring entrance is to become a part of the past, present, and future of the Penn Quarter. Constructed in 1891 as a headquarters for Riggs National Bank, the landmark example of Richardson Romanesque architecture was known as the Bank of Presidents, and resides at the intersection not just of 9th and F Street, but of American history.

Staying at Riggs Washington DC hotel was one of the best experiences I have ever had at a hotel. A beautiful ambiance, welcoming and very helpful staff and a fantastic location. I loved the interaction with their staff, starting from the reservation department, reception desk, the door attendants and the cleaning staff. Their rooms were beautifully decorated, clean and very cozy. The bank vault looking refrigerator door was a nice touch of the building's past. The Expreso machine probably made the best Expresso I have tried in a while, and I am from a European country where Expreso is all we drink. The location makes it easy to walk everywhere to either explore DC's amazing sightseeing's, grab a coffee or meal.

The Riggs is best described as a classic hotel with fantastic ladies and gentleman waiting to serve you! You will be greeted at the front door by Coach and Garnett (aka Mr. DC). These two gentlemen are the backbone of The Riggs. We will return just to see their smiling faces and watch Coach practice his golf swing on the sidewalk while he waits to greet the next guest.

We had a blast in DC. Coach, Garnett, and everyone on staff at The Riggs were so good to us. We’ll definitely be back to visit!

The entire staff was courteous, helpful and made Guest service a priority. We were there for a wedding and the staff helped make the entire weekend a huge success. From check-in to the bartenders to the service staff, everyone returned a smile, took their time to answer a question and generally provided outstanding support at every turn. Thank you.

Great experience. Former bank building I could feel. It is a Michelin 1 key hotel. I stayed in Superior Double room which I got a room upgrade from Classic Double to. The beds are kinda small but enough for a family of three. Bank safe styled fridge, showerhead, furnitures and even slippers are all special. You will never regret. I hope I stayed longer. Many restaurants around the hotel and easy to reach the National Mall.
