Riggs Washington DC is housed in a former bank building, thoughtfully reimagined into a striking boutique hotel that blends neoclassical architecture with playful, design-forward interiors. Guest rooms and suites feature rich textures, custom furnishings, and subtle nods to the building’s financial past, including safes and vault-inspired details. Reviews for Riggs Washington DC

Lovely Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We had a lovely stay at the Riggs! First, Semaj at the front desk was wonderful, she helped us at check in and checkout. I asked for an extra half hour for checkout time and she said an extra hour would be no problem. She was so friendly and efficient and professional! And of course Garnett, Mr. DC, was incredibly friendly and helpful with our bags, getting us transportation, and always greeting me by name! I forgot my toothbrush and Garnett had one delivered to the room within minutes. So friendly and professional! All the staff was very service oriented and polite. Considering we had a corner room and a second room facing 9th St. we were so impressed at how quiet the rooms were despite the city traffic below. Our Deluxe rooms were clean, spacious, and so well appointed. Unlike so many hotels, the thermostat in the room seemed to actually work well and keep the temp comfortable without loud noises and blowing cold air around. The only complaint would be no drawers or shelves for clothes so we had to request more hangers to hang them and keep some clothes in our suitcases. The food, spirits, and service at Cafe’ Riggs were all very, very good. Breakfasts were tasty, and the service was so friendly and warm. The location is excellent, we enjoyed walking to every museum and restaurant that we visited with family. The Gallery Place metro stop is just a few blocks away, and the hotel is a great location for events at Capital One arena. We travel to DC at least 1-2 times per year and have found our new favorite DC hotel at The Riggs.

Courtyard= staring at the building 20 feet away!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Very disappointed with what Riggs Hotel calls a "courtyard view." When I booked this room, I specifically chose the courtyard view option because I expected an actual courtyard—a pleasant open space, garden area, or at least something visually appealing. Instead, the view is essentially a close-up of neighboring walls and the adjacent building. Calling this a "courtyard view" feels misleading at best. Hotels charge different rates for different room categories, and guests rely on those descriptions when making booking decisions. If I had seen an accurate representation of this view before booking, I would have chosen a different room type or possibly a different hotel altogether. The issue isn't that the room itself is bad; it's that the marketing does not match reality. Travelers should know that "courtyard view" may mean looking directly at surrounding buildings with little to no actual courtyard visible. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, updates the room descriptions and photos, and reaches out to address the disappointment caused by this experience. Guests deserve transparency when paying for a specific room category. Also up and checking in I did mention it because I read this in one of the reviews on the way to DC, but offcourse meant nothing.

Fun hotel, great location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The hotel was well-located, just across the street from the Smithsonian American Art Museum and located in a small lively shopping area. The decor of the hotel was unique and fun, and the rooms were clean. Service was great. All round a luxurious and fun stay.
