Pros - Beautiful hotel. Centrally located - a very easy walk to the metro, museums, restaurants. The on-site restaurant was incredible, one of the best meals I've had. Staff were fantastic. Every request we had was handled promptly and everyone was really friendly. Room was very clean and quiet. Cons - The bathroom! The layout was awkward. The shower did not drain well so water would pool up. The first night, we asked for someone to come up and they got it fixed but the problem started again on the 3rd night of our 4 night stay. The bathroom also smelled bad the entire time, presumably from stagnant water in the drain. The "hotel fee" - I dropped $2,600 here between the room, dining in the restaurant, room service and mini-bar so my last impression being the $200 "hotel fee" for 4 nights was not super appreciated. They probably mentioned it, but if so it was lost in the shuffle of checking in and booking. Truly would've rather the cost of the room just been higher than getting hit with this separate fee which leaves a bad taste in your mouth after an otherwise great stay. Overall I would definitely stay here again because the location is great and the room was very clean.

Our flight got canceled, and we needed a place to stay for the night. I discovered Riggs through my Chase Sapphire account, and its excellent reviews encouraged me to take a chance on it. It turned out to be a great choice; Riggs is a converted bank building, and the decor reflects its unique history. The hotel is really well appointed. The positive experience began with the valet service and continued through to the front desk staff, who made us feel welcomed and appreciated as guests. The themed decor caught my attention right off the elevators; each door number plate is designed to resemble a safety deposit box door— a clever design touch. I also noticed the do-not-disturb door hangers, which are not your typical placards. Instead, they feature a cord tied with a monkey fist knot, adding another standout detail before we even reached our room. When we entered the room, I was pleasantly surprised. Have you ever looked at hotel photos and found that your room didn’t match what you saw online? That was not the case at Riggs. I believe my room might even be the one used in their promotional photos—wow! The headboard beautifully blended with the wall decor. Staying true to the building's history, they also included a chest safe in the room that housed the mini bar, in-room safe, and mini fridge. The bedding was incredibly comfortable, making me realize that I really need new mattresses at home. Hey Riggs, who supplies yours? It contributed to a wonderfully restful night’s sleep. In the morning, we had breakfast at Café Riggs, which was also fantastic. Overall, our stay far exceeded our expectations; after all, we were only looking for a place to spend the night. We also discovered that this hotel is conveniently located just a ten-minute drive from DCA airport, which is a plus since we often fly from there. The highest compliment I can give any business is whether I would recommend it to family or friends. With Riggs, the answer is an easy YES. Not only do we plan to return to Riggs in the future, but we also learned that their parent company has locations in NYC. Because of our positive experience at Riggs, we will definitely check out their New York location when we visit the city. To the Riggs management, job well done! Thank you for a great stay.

The location of the Riggs can't be beat! Central to a Metro, near lots of great restaurants, and walkable to Smithsonian museums. We had breakfast each morning at the hotel and it was delicious. Lunch was also very nice. Enjoyed the hotel gym that has 2 Peloton bikes (Bike and Bike+) as part of their cardio equipment. Garnett was a spectacular bell captain - always a smile, helpful, and made us feel very welcome.

Took my husband to DC for his 61st birthday. He had only been here on official business during his time in the USAF. Wanted a nice hotel for him. This was recommended by a friend. Room was awesome and spacious, shower was amazing, service was great. No noise heard. SHould not have bothered with a city view, though

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Riggs Washington DC. The hotel was gorgeous - a very careful renovation of the Riggs bank that serviced a number of presidents and elected officials. Our room (an Astor Suite I think was the name) was spacious and comfortable. The Cafe Riggs had a great, complete selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And a wonderful wine selection. Perhaps the best part of all is the location / just a couple of blocks from the Mall where many of the Smithsonian’s museums and National monuments are.
