Stayed for two nights at the Ritz Carlton Pentagon City during the DC portion a longer trip to the DMV. The hotel is close to DCA airport, only 5 minutes via car or metro, which was a big factor for me. The hotel is right next to a large mall, restaurants and stores, and the metro station so various conveniences there. Service at this hotel was excellent. Even before I got to the hotel, I called ahead as I could only get the room type I wanted for one of my 2 nights, Andre told me to just book the other room type, and he assured me that he’d make sure I get what I wanted. When I checked the app the next day he had upgraded my room and kept his word. Check in was smooth. My bag was taken as I was walking to the door by Antenee, and he offered to take it to my room. Quick and easy check in by Alyssa. Both were extremely friendly, and Antenee always had a smile and a greeting throughout my stay. The lobby is a little small and crowded sometimes but clean and functional. The room itself was spacious, and I had a great view of Arlington and the pentagon. The room itself isn’t modern, but it was clean and a comfortable space. Nespresso coffee, an honour bar, bottles of water, diptyque bath amenities. Turndown service is a nice touch, the rooms refreshed with towels replaced, a little snack, and garbages emptied. The bed was especially comfortable. There is an old school safe in the closet with an actual key which was kind of charming throwback. Large gym taking up the entire third floor along with a sauna and steam room and change rooms. Lots of variety of equipment. The hotel is definitely on the older side, there’s no question. The rooms are showing their age, but were kept clean and are comfortable. If you’re looking for modern, this isn’t the place for you, but the service makes up for that. I’d recommend to anyone staying in northern Virginia.

Extremely nice Ritz Carlton with the usual impeccable service. Staff were highly professional, which is quite refreshing. My car came out immediately. Three guys were out front at the door. The front desk service was superb. Breakfast was excellent and, again, nice professional wait staff. I have to come to Pentagon City regularly now so I will be a regular hotel guest here at the Ritz Carlton. It’s situated perfectly for anyone visiting the area.

The Ritz-Carlton Pentagon has a great location and the staff is always helpful. The workout room could be larger to accommodate the early morning rush, but the equipment is great for a hotel gym. Rooms are nothing spectacular, but are well cared for and very clean. This is always a great hotel choice while in the DC area.

This is hotel disappointed in many ways. (1) As Ambassador Elite guest I was upgraded to "high floor" 11th out of 18, I guess that must be close to being no upgrade at all, I am not sure where they decided their cutoff is for the standard rooms and upgraded rooms but it must be close to floor 11. Suites were available at time of check-in but only for upsell. (2) Shower in bathtub and no hand shower. Not on par with RC brand. (3) Single vanity - this is not what I expect from a luxury hotel. (4) One of the reasons I don't stay in Hilton chain hotels in U.S. is the lack of free breakfast and the fact they give a credit instead. This RC smells like a Hilton : 65 USD credit for a couple, which will most likely fall short for most guests. If this was an elite benefit I could tolerate but I already implicitly paid for breakfast by booking a breakfast inclusive rate so in such cases I don't normally expect to have to pay a second time. (5) The a la carte menu is not nearly as good as many other great menus in the U.S. which I generally find to be superior than hotel breakfasts in Europe. (6) At check-in they apologized for the poor upgrade and said they would give me 5k bonus points. Nice gesture, but then they never credited my account. I would have preferred if they never offered anything at all rather than say it and then do nothing. Bottom line, too many issues here. I will not return.

I stayed at this property a decade ago while serving on a Commission, and the quality is timeless. This property reminds guests that excellence is not a function of resources; it is a function of carefully planned design, with great focus on preparation, timeliness, and anticipation of guest desires. Every moment of the guest experience felt seamless yet structured, and organic yet deliberate. Nothing was left to chance. This brand executes in hospitality something mirroring the best-performing organizations aim to achieve at scale. The staff at this property made sure the guest experience was amazing across a decade by reducing ambiguity through systems and seemingly training staff to go beyond responsive or reactionary practices. Of course the business prof in me noted how closely this aligns with principles embedded in German managerial culture: An environment where standard procedures drive consistency and reliability, that is also a performance culture grounded in technical competence and individual accountability. Still this practiced excellence showed context-is-key awareness in staff tailoring the experience to the guest demographic and expectations. Great personalities only augment the process-driven consistency of awesomeness.
