Spectacular stay at the Salamander DC with top notch service in absolutely beautiful room. Perfect home base in DC for a long weekend with 2 kids (9 and 6 years old) - we prefer walking so loved that we could get from hotel to the museums to the Tidal Basin to the Wharf on foot. The room + bathroom was sparkling clean and the beds were so comfortable. We appreciated the proximity to Starbucks, which made early breakfast/coffee easy each morning. Will definitely stay here again.

The location is close to everything yet far from the busy spots; the view from our room was magnificent; the hotel is large yet it feels comfortable; the ambiance is luxurious yet it feels like home. But most of all, people are what makes Salamander extra-special. We owe it to the friendly and efficient staff that our staycation was so thoroughly enjoyable.

We are very relaxed travelers, and despite that, was still treated with top notch service and the use of our names with most interactions with staff. The hotel ensured we didn’t lift a finger for anything we didn’t need to, and they treated my children with respect and interest. We were given Salamander hats when our luggage was brought up, and Jenga to borrow for entertainment in the room. One of my kids took a particular liking to Gonzalo, the front office manager, and Dwayne the porter. Fhiel at the front desk was super helpful at check-in, and at check-out, Martaz literally ran my vehicle down to make sure I didn’t leave without the food I ordered to take with me on the road. This is such a conveniently placed hotel, with fire pits and cherry blossoms in the courtyard, that you can walk to the wharf, Jefferson memorial, Washington monument, and many museums within 20 minutes. The food was incredible, specifically the braised lamb tacos. Room service was always a pleasure.

Our first time on the east coast and we felt right at home here at the Salamander. It was our daughter's 15th birthday and we asked her where she wanted to travel to, she said Washington DC to see the Cherry Blossoms. When we got here, they were already gone. However, Malik our bellman, went above and beyond and got our daughters cherry blossom pin and scarves. They hugged him as a thank you and he told us our girls reminded him of his granddaughters. Family. Then, Hicham, the restaurant manager was so kind to us the next day. We got back from sight seeing and my daughter was hungry. The restaurant was so packed, but he accommodated us and served my daughter some pizza and popcorn snacks along with some macaroons! He was so sweet with my girls and my family he was like their uncle. Family. Finally, Tavi the hotel manager treated us the most perfect way someone could be treated. He being Samoan and us being from the islands, we made an instant connection. He set us up with dinner reservations in Georgetown and told us if we wanted to have dinner at their often fully booked restaurant that he would get us a table. Family. We've never met such an incredible group of individuals at one hotel and we travel A LOT! We have been to hundreds and hundreds of hotels across the country and we have never been treated this incredible! From the moment we stepped out of our car and Felipe opened the door for us with his kindest greeting, we felt like we belonged here. We felt like we were welcomed here. We felt like FAMILY. Highly, highly, highly recommend The Salamander! We will be back!

Rooms nice size, but not ready upon arrival. Dropped a few points of hospitality just not everything clicked very well. In-room service was excellent especially for kids. POOL was AWESOME, nice and warm, especially great for kids. New extended hours. Food service in the lobby a bit sloppy. Expect to dine next to dirty dishes, possible on a coffee table while tables sit empty for "reservations." All staff very nice. Good value but WATCH OUT FOR THE $90.00 valet parking.

Not up to the standards of our stay at previously booked luxury link hotels. No in room coffee bar, no mini bar, blamed everything on Covid, and they were a new hotel, we would not stay there again. Definitely not 5 star, location good, no ice maker you had to call for it.
