Location & Comfy

Great location and friendly staff. Very quiet and comfortable beds! Walking distance to the best museums and Starbucks across the street. 1 block from the Metro, no need to rent a car.

Quick Staycation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

I needed to getaway because I was feeling burned out from work and Salamander truly recharged me. From relaxing in "The Lounge" to dinner at "Dogon," the whole experience felt like a true resort escape. I left feeling refreshed, reset and genuinely happy after my time there.

Don’t bother

Not well maintained. Service painful. Food options brought back my depression. Very overpriced for what it is. My favorite part was leaving.

Oasis of comfort after a difficult day of transit

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

I booked a single night stay at the Salamander while visiting DC for a conference, using my Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts credit. Although I arrived late at night and left early in the morning, the time gave me a luxurious and relaxing break and a good start. The night clerk was very welcoming and courteous. The room was large, clean, quietly decorated, and had a nice view of the Washington Channel of the Potomac. The tub in the bathroom was large and comfortable, although could have done with a bit more anti-slip surfacing and some bath amenities. I ordered my free breakfast as room service. It arrived promptly and was delivered by a very friendly waiter. The fruit and basket of pastries were fresh and tasty. In general, it was a very good stay!

Fantastic security team - left bag in a cab

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

After a long day of travel, I got to the hotel late and left my backpack in a cab. Salamander staff jumped right in - going to security cameras immediately and providing assistance. Got my bag back in the am. Special thanks to Officer Stevenson and David for scouring the footage. They went the extra mile.

Not up to the standards of our stay at previously booked luxury link hotels. No in room coffee bar, no mini bar, blamed everything on Covid, and they were a new hotel, we would not stay there again. Definitely not 5 star, location good, no ice maker you had to call for it.
