I booked one night at the Salamander to celebrate a milestone birthday. We had a Deluxe King room with a water view, which ended up being a view of the Jefferson Memorial and part of the river. The room was very well appointed, with a very comfortable bed, elegant furnishings, and obvious attention to detail. The bathroom was very large, with two sinks, a separate bathtub, and sizeable shower. There was also a phone charger attached to the vanity mirror, which was a neat touch. The only "negative" was that the marble is starting to show its age, as it was becoming yellowish-brown in spots around the tub and the shower (which also had some poor attempts at updating the grout). Those details would not keep me from returning if I wanted to splurge again in the future.

Refrigerator didn’t work and AirPlay wouldn’t work then they gave us a Roku that didn’t work either, price was overpriced and expensive for the mediocre room I got it was the double fed water view room. Staff was friendly but I just feel like for the price everything needs to work

Sorry to say, but The place is losing its flair. I’ve been staying at this hotel since it was the Mandarin. This is my go-to when I’m in DC on business. Complete disappointment. I truly hope they get it together. I understand that they’re still in the “transition” stage, but my goodness…for the type of $ being charged, I’m completely underwhelmed. Like I said, I hope they get it together. Not sure if I’ll be going back.

Truly a luxury hotel, everything was just perfect. Separate soaking tub and shower (I am a big fan of this), rooms were very clean, hotel is well built and quiet. It is not close to getting something to eat outside of the hotel though, so you have to travel to restaurants or eat there (which is super pricey)

The hotel was nice and everyone was professional. Gonzalo was aonnice and he moved our room from one king to two queen beds the second day. We did mention our 20 year anniversary and a little chocolate or champagne would have been a nice touch. But overall it was a pleasant stay. We did have to Uber and the salamander SUV advertised on web site wasn’t available and we weren’t told that before hand.

Not up to the standards of our stay at previously booked luxury link hotels. No in room coffee bar, no mini bar, blamed everything on Covid, and they were a new hotel, we would not stay there again. Definitely not 5 star, location good, no ice maker you had to call for it.
