Nice hotel BUT disappointed with its deceptive pricing/business practices

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 hours ago

The hotel is very nice, great staff, and wonderful location. We were, however, disappointed with its deceptive business practices at Thompson Washington! We paid on line the advertised rate ahead of time, just to learn upon our arrival that the daily rate is higher then it was advertised. False, deceptive advertising!

Perfect baseball game stay

We love staying here after Nationals baseball games! Property is clean and well located. We got a nice upgrade as only Discoverists. Room was quiet and comfortable.

Good stay in Navy Yard area

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Stayed here for 4 nights. Unfortunatelly, hotel was quite full during our stay, resulting in upgrade "only" to King Balcony room, which has limited use during hot and humid DC summer weather. Room was functional and bed comfy, but we had to unplug fridge as it was very loud. Also, AC was very strong, so we mostly used it during the night. Housekeeping skipped one of the cleaning days and we recieved no service, but on other days we did. Breakfast is good and tasty, but sometimes service can be slow. Navy yard area is nice redeveloped space, full of good restaurants (nearby mexican and italian are very good) and some stores.

Not 4 stars

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Obviously its all about the location. Was here for 2 nights for a wedding. Not the usual elegance of a hyatt which was disappointing. Room was pretty basic, coffee maker with 2 foam cups had to relocate to plug it in. It was clean. I had thought it was a good value at $335 for 2 nights. Valet parking was $65 a night and a destination fee of$35pp which was good for discounts on nothing we used and free long distance calls(does anyone pay for calls anymore) No pool which is a big must for me Was handy to wedding venues Had terrible sewar smell at night
